Would You Push a Stroller While You Were Rollerblading?

I saw this in town this afternoon, a young girl was rollerblading on the sidewalk by the college, and pushing a baby/toddler in a stroller.

I just couldn't help but think what if she wiped out? Fell and had to let go of the stroller? That child could end up in the street!!

I would never push a stroller if I was rollerblading.

Would you?

I would not but I admit I'm slightly paranoid and wouldn't jog either. Even with a wrist strap because if I fell I would end up dragged. If I didn't use a strap then the stroller could roll off.

If I would rollerblade at all, I probably would.

I do sometimes, but I walk/jog/skate on a bike path that very seldom crosses any roads. I don't feel comfortable with it on sidewalks in town because of the frequent driveways & intersections, though, so I put my skates on when I get to the bike path and take them off at the other end.

I used to do it all the time. I used a jogging stroller with a wrist strap and we would roller blade about 10 miles twice a day. Lost my baby fat that way. Unfortunatly in the last 13 years, I've found it again.

I actually think it sounds like a good idea! But I'm impressed with anyone that exercises. LOL

I'm pretty good at rollerblading, but I would NEVER do that. It seems way too dangerous to do so on a sidewalk.

I see people doing that at the park where I walk, on a paved walking trail. Some of the ones rollerblading while pushing a stroller, are moving along at a pretty good speed, and it makes me nervous to see them do this. I always think what might happen if one of the wheels on the strollers came off or something like that. I don't think strollers are designed to be rolling along at a fast speed.

Used to do it all the time pushing a regular double because I couldn't afford a jogger. Never had a problem.

I would if I was good at roller blading, but I'm a klutz, so the answer is no - I would not push a stroller while rollerblading.

I used to when we lived in Germany. We rollerbladed all over town. That's how I got to the backerei and the metzgerei (butcher) when I didn't have a car and we lived 40 minutes from post. It was a blast. I'm in the bad parent club.

I'I live in a very hilly town so it's out of the question for me, but in my college days I was a pretty good blader and would have been comfortable doing it. But yes, a mom pushing a baby jogger/stroller while blading is a picture of health for me.

Sometimes, we think things are dangerous if it's not something we're used to. I remember people jumping all over Nancy Kerrigan for skating while pregnant. Ridiculous! Kerrigan was probably more in control of herself on skates than she was on bare feet.

I know a couple of people who push strollers while Rollerblading and running, including in races. Training doesn't stop just because you don't have a babysitter.

First, running is totally different from rollerblading. Further, using a stroller while training is one thing (and done often). However, almost every single race I've been in has specifically stated that strollers (and, for that matter rollerblades) are not allowed.

I wouldn't use rollerblades with a stroller because I am a klutz, but I don't see it as a problem if other people do so.

Are you kidding? I am so uncoordinated that it is all I can do to push a stroller and walk, much less anything else.

I never really thought about. I probably wouldn't do it on a busy street but in a park or quiet street, sure I guess so. The thing I see that worries me is when I see the bikes with the little baby trailers on the back:eek: It just freaks me out because the trailer is so low to the ground and out of sight of the bicyclist. I just woory that a car could hit it.

I just did a 5K in the zoo that had 3 or 4 people with racing strollers. The larger races often don't allow push strollers but many small, local 5Ks will allow them as long as you start in the back.

Rollerblads I have never seen on a race course unless it was an inline race of course.
