Would you pay to ride the monorail?

If Disney instituted a cost to ride the monorail say you buy a weekly card like most tourists in major cities do for metros/subways. On the agreement that the monorail is expanded to every theme park most resorts and DD. Would you be willing to pay a fee to ride?

Um...no. Charging Disney guests a separate fee for onsite transportation? Epic Fail.

Well, it is about as reliable when it comes to breaking down and delays as my commute on the NYC subway system and NJ Transit, so no I wouldn't pay on vacation to deal with my daily at home stress.

I look at it as we are paying for it. It's part of our vacation package to me. Or even if you're staying off-site, I think you can look at it as part of your ticket cost.

I'm pretty sure Disney has considered the cost of running the monorail when it thinks about stuff like ticket cost or packages anyway. Believe me, we're paying for it one way or another because there are inflated prices for everything, isn't there?

No way, and I would hate it being expanded to the other parks and resorts. I like it just the way it is thank you very much.

Not without a reduction in ticket costs. The ticket media used to specifically say it included the use of the WDW Transportation system, implying that part of the cost was for transportation. It was never free, just bundled.

They sort of do charge extra for the monorail, the hotels located on the monorail loop are all far more expensive than the hotels not on the monorail.

In terms of parking, you don't have a choice, the only way to get to MK is monorail or boat so I wouldn't expect them to charge.

However, Tokyo Disney charges for the monorail, but I think it connects to some non-Disney hotels as well.

In this scenario is the bus still free? If so- no I would not pay to ride the monorail.

I think the Tokyo monorail costs because it is illegal to offer that kind of service without a fee in Japan- at least I read that a few times in articles.

I personally wouldn't, but if I had a Disney first timer with me I would suck it up just so they could experience it.

Yes the bus and boats are is still free as is the express monorail from TTC to MK. Your basically paying additional monies to ride the monorail with the guarantee no more maintains issues, major expansion of the system, and ease of transportation (i.e. no bus lines).

Yes the cost is supposed to already be built in to the monorail resorts(hence the cost, which people do pay) and into the price of park admission.

My own personal choice is it depends on the quality and price. If it ran like the Tokyo monorail and was expanded to all 4 theme parks, Downtown Disney(Disney Springs), and more resorts I may pay to ride.

Part of staying at a Disney resort, purchasing a park ticket or parking includes use of Disney transportation, so we already are paying to use the monorail, boats and buses. Its definitely not a free ride.

As mentioned above, we are already paying for it through ticket and resort prices, so no I will not pay extra to ride the monorail.

I agree with the PPs who pointed out that guests already are paying for it through their resort and ticket payments.

Also, according to this image I found on the internet, it used to cost $1.50 per day to ride the monorail:
