currently we have $196.80 out of providence with a switch in atlanta
i can get us $176.90 out of hartford direct
however since im switching from delta to song there is a $50 change fee
would make total another $30 per tick

is that $60 worth another 4hrs at WDW? land at 10am instead of 2pm and hopefully avoid some of that checkin rush?

It depends on how long the layover is and if the fee would cut into my vacation spending money. Two hours, yes. 30 minutes, probably not.

But if I had the funds readily available and it wouldn't be any kind of a hardship I would do it no matter what the layover time is.

I would pay an extra $30 if the new flight is non-stop (technically, direct just means you don't have to change planes, but there still could be stops). It's not the extra WDW time that is the incentive (although that is a bonus), it's that I wouldn't have to worry so much about weather or delays in Atlanta or anything else that might affect the connection. I also worry a bit about luggage making the change. Anyway, any time you have a connection, you really increase the chances of something going wrong. When I'm visiting the Mouse, I don't like things to go wrong, LOL!

Do I sound paranoid? I don't mean to - I will take a one stop if there is a big difference in price, but am willing to pay more for non-stop, especially during seasons when weather could be an issue.

IMHO, an air trip should be one up and one down whenever possible! :teeth:

Best wishes -

To me it would be worth it. I have only had direct flights my entire life, but in 4 weeks I will be flying to WDW out of Logan, and I have to stop in Cincinnati on the way down and Atlanta on the way back, but this was all I oculd get. I would switch it in a minute if I could. But it's my own fault, it's school vacation week. I'm kind of nervous about it, have my 65 dad with me.

If it's something you really want to do then go for it!! I would....No doubts or regrets!
It's alot more convenient to go straight to your destination then have to stop along the way...yuk!
Good Luck,
Debbie

my brother in law just summed it up for me
"youre willing to pay 4800 for a disney cruise but dont know if you should pay $60 more to fly direct?!"

i called and changed our tickets

In a HeartBeat!

I'm glad you did change, you will appreciate it!

Good for you! IMHO you made the right choice. I ONLY fly non-stop no matter what the cost! I don't want to be on an airplane a second longer than I have to be! I want to get where I'm going the fastest possible way.

This is why I only fly Southwest to Orlando. No fees to revise your intinerary. If you find a lower fare, you simply re-book. Although the tickets are non-refundable, you half up to a year from booking to apply the left over funds to future air travel.

:smooth:

You saw what you wanted and went for it! Good Girl!!

Have to agree with the non-stops. No way am I changing planes or even stopping on a 3 hr. flight to Orlando from Boston. That's one reason I only fly Song. All direct flights. Yes, sometimes SW is cheaper but I like to book further out than SW allows and Song lets me do that. My only issue would be the extra driving time to Hartford. But I believe the OP is about 30 minutes closer to Hartford than I am. We can now get to Logan as easily as we could get to TF Green. And now, it takes less time also!!! 1 hr from our driveway to the terminal at TF Green and about 45 minutes to Logan.

We are flying direct for the first time on our next trip. We are so excited. Those stops... changing planes etc... is always when DH and I get grouchy and tense. I think Direct flights are more relaxing which is what vacations are all about!!!!
Good for you for changing-- i know i would!!!

Sixty bucks to not fly thru ATL? No brainer!
