Would you or wouldn't you eat at Tusker House for dinner?

I never really seem to see much about this and just curious to hear from people who have eaten there. We need a dinner reservation on our AK day and we already have one at Boma on another day, so I thought I would look at trying here. Good? Bad?

We have eaten at Tusker House, I would advise going somewhere else.

I, on the other hand, really enjoyed Tusker House! We went for lunch in February and found the buffet to have a great variety of hot, tasty food! My DD6 ate more there than at any other restaurant on our trip. Two thumbs up from me!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

This is my 2nd favorite restaurant in all of WDW!! :thumbsup2

There's so much variety here and it's the kind of food you truly can't get anywhere else, unless you literally go to Africa! :upsidedow
It's also beautiful inside, great atmosphere. We ate so much here I can't even to begin to tell you!

Sorry to hijack, but I'm curious as to when it changed? I have this on my pre ADR list, but now I'm second-guessing. A friend of mine went with her dh, 3 kids, mil and fil and said none of them liked the food. They went Nov 2007.

Oh yeah, and how similar is it to Boma's? I know they're both African food. This will be our first WDW trip, so I've never eaten at Boma's, but I've heard good things.

Your friends were there after the change. It is supposed to be quite a bit like Boma with a bit more of an Indian flare (I believe). I have not been there since the change but have ADR's for the fall. The reviews on this board have been overwhelmingly positive, from what I have read. Obviously, every single restaurant gets "mixed" reviews. There will always be people who don't like any restaurant. When I see trends of bad reviews, I tend to avoid a restaurant. I would not avoid for one or two bad reviews.

We were there for lunch in December (after it switched to TS from CS) and it was the best food we had all trip (and we had a LOT of TS ressies).

It was super yummy, the menu quite diverse...and very different from all the other buffets we ate at.

Dd and I are trying breakfast in July.

I HIGHLY recommend Tusker House! :thumbsup2

ETA.. the salmon was to DIE for... sooo YUMMY!

Do they fill up at lunch, say 11am? I wonder if we can have lunch as walk ins.

Yes- only characters for breakfast. I want to say when we went the earliest ADR for lunch was 11:30 and they were beyond packed so I woudln't suggest walking up.
I thought lunch was one of the best meals we had all week. It was just nice to see different choices - lots of veggie options as well. They had a curry chicken dish that I thought was really tasty. I have heard dinner isn't all that different so I would def give it a shot. I have heard it referred to as BOMA lite.

We ate there for breakfast and it was soooo good. I would love to try it for dinner sometime.

Tusker House is awesome for lunch! I'm sure dinner is even better. I loved all the different food. Not your typical buffet. I would go there again in a heartbeat! I was there early February and my party of nine loved it.

we ate there on april 20/08 and it had a good variety...it was way way better then chef mickey for selections and taste...but our waiter was no good..he did not remove our dirty plates until he brought the bill and he never brought us refills on our drinks...
lets hope he got the hint after he seen his $10 tip:rolleyes1

I'm glad most people seem to have so much positive to say about it. We've got an ADR there for September and I'll be looking forward to it!
