In early June, I will be starting my 6th month of pregnancy, and, we are planning an 8-day WDW trip. We were planning to go later in the year, but, now that I am pregnant, we moved it up!
I'm an older mom, and somewhat concerned about things. I WILL go, (rather than wait several more months!!) unless some health issue comes up that may postpone the trip! Hopefully, I won't find it too warm--we've never visited WDW in June. Also, I'm hoping that it won't be too crowded June 7th thru the 14th?
We plan on taking it slow (DH, 2 young children, and DH's mother & sister). We'll get back to our hotel in the early afternoon for rest/pool time for kids. We'll probably visit the parks for some time in the evening.
Have any of you done this, and, what advice might you have?
Thanks in advance!:) :) :)

I went when I was 6 months pregnant with my 2nd. Our only child at that time was an almost 4 year old ds. We just took things very easy.....basically went at the 4 yo's pace and went back every day for naps or to sit by the pool. (Our 4 yo wasn't very adventurous.....didn't want to go on any wild rides or dark rides.) We had an absolutely great time though, and I think it's because we went into it planning on a relaxed pace and not worrying about trying to squeeze too much in to every day. We really had time to appreciate the entire atmosphere and enjoy all the little things. I had had a lot of morning sickness, leg swelling, etc. and couldn't imagine how I was going to do all that walking, but it really worked out fine. There's something about being on vacation that makes the usual pregnancy aggravations not seem so bad. The important thing is to take it easy and drink plenty of water and even more water if it's hot. Have a great trip!

We went to WDW when I was six months pregnant with my 2nd. My first was 22 months at that time. We just took it easy, hung out at the pool - he did the fun rides while I watched. It was just a nice relaxing trip - no hustle and bustle.

Have a great time.

I'll be 6 mos. pregnant when we go in late April/early May. DH has to work, so it'll be me and my 77 y/o (in good health though) mother, and my 4 children ages 14, 5, 5, (twins) and 2. Am I crazy, or what? I think we'll be taking it NICE & SLOW!

Sue :D

Congratulations! I went last year when I was 5 months pregnant (I'm 42 so I guess I'm an older mom too:) ) We went in Feb. so it wasn't too hot and humid but my best advice is to make sure you drink plenty of water andtake it easy. I have a 5 year old DD and I did get to ride alot of the rieds in fantasyland which was a nice surprise. I'm glad we went since it was the last trip we made with just my DD. I'm looking forward to introducing our newest member to Mickey in April. Have a great trip!

This was me last year, I was 6 months pregnant on June 3rd, the day we left for WDW. Not only was I 6 mos pregnant, we drove from NJ with our 19 month old. It was a piece of cake,:) WDW was hideously hot though. The first day there we went to Epcot and I was so happy, no crowds at all. Later on that evening we attempted MK--we took train to Toontown saw he mass of people and walked straight out and went back to OKW. LOL The next day Epcot was pretty crowded and so was MGM. We decided to hang out at the villa and relax he rest of the trip. Now 'm sure the parks were doable, but we had been 3 times in 2000, so we were fine with deciding to do a non park WDW trip. We went miniature golfing, swimming every afternoon, to DD, resort hopped etc. We had a really great time. I'll never go again in June,we prefer the fall...but if I were in your situation I'd absolutely do it again. As long as you take it slow and have lots of breaks/drink enough water you'll be ine. :)

We took a last mintue trip last year Feb 2001 to WDW for 4 days when I was in the start of the 8th month! This was our frist child and I didn't gain too much weight, but had been sick as a dog for the frist 6 months! (I hear all bets are off for the second child!)

The weather was cold. This was dispointing as the goal for the trip was go get way from winter. I think it really helped me out. No sun burn, no over heating. My feet did not swell up and I had no health problems during the trip.

There is a lot you can do to stay cool at WDW, just take it easy. I really thought I would be the only crazy pregnant women there who didn't already have a kid. I was surprized how many other women I spoted and stopped to talk to them all!

Congraduations! Have a great trip!

I know this is a bummer and not what anyone wants to hear, but, my son was born at 6 months (24 weeks ) during a normal pregnacy and with a healthy mom. DS is now a healthy 9 year old, but that was after a 3 month hospital stay and many, many hundrends of thousands of Doctor bills. Thanks goodness for insurance. Many insurances will not pay if deliver out of their network area after a certain point in the pregnacy. Before my experence I would have gone in a heartbeat. You might at least want to check with your insuance.Congratulations on the little one.

Take breaks, take breaks, take breaks! Put your feet up to reduce swelling, drink lots if it is hot, and go slow. Usre common sense, and you should be fine. Check with your OB before traveling to be sure there is no problems. I have been to WDW, 3 times preg., just listen to your body, it will tell you when enough is enough.

THANK YOU for all the replies! I'm encouraged to know many women have done this! I just needed to hear from others as I was worrying about it. I don't want to postpone the trip if I don't have to--I feel if I take it easy and am careful, I should be OK!
I will definitely be talking/checking with my doctor before we leave. Anyway, thanks again for your imput.
Now, I just need to keep my weight down...if possible... :( ;)

We went at the end of last May..I was almost 6mos pregnant and had my 20mo old and 4yr old DDs..And I too am an older mom (39)..I just paced myself and did the parks early in the morning and early evening. My thoughts were with three little ones I didn't know when we would get there, so I made sure I took the two...It turns out that we will probably go agaim this May, but honestlly I'm more skeptical because my 21/2 yr old is really at aa horrible stage...But anyway just drink plenty of water and pace yourself and you will be fine. Enjoy it while you can.

I've read all the posts from people saying they would go in June 6 months pregnant. I would never in a million years do it again. Yes, I am a plus size mom, so the heat affects me more, but it was so HOT just normally walking around in the Florida sun that I wouldn't consider it if I was pregnant again.

I went to Disney when I was 3 weeks pregnant - didn't know why I kept throwing up there, then again at 4 months, 6 months, and at 6 weeks after the baby was born, and I still can't believe I did it. The sun and heat made me dizzy, I didn't feel well in general, and I was exhausted. I guess if you are already in good health and very used to walking in the heat it might be ok, but as a florida resident I thought I was used to it. Was I wrong. Never again!!!

We are going on Saturday and the temps are supposed to be in the high 80s already - I need to find the squeeze fans and ice packs! :)

Minnie is rumored to be 3 months pregnant as we speak and due in September!!! When you're there, you might want to attend Minnie's Incredibly Extravagent Celestial Baby Shower (MIECBS). I hope you have a truly wonderful time!!!!

I wouldn't do it. I've lived in FL for 25 years and am used to the heat, but in the summer it is a sauna at 7am!!!!! I wouldn't go to WDW then, even if someone paid my way. I would save your money and do a nice trip in winter when your baby is a few months old. It is much more relaxing in the winter, with the lower crowds and cooler weather. I just wouldn't chance it. It will definitely be very crowded, even during early June. In the winter you can also get very good rates, since it is value season. Maybe you could treat yourself to your dream resort. Talk to your doctor. If it were me, I would wait- I know, not what you want to hear, when you have been waiting so long already for your baby!

I've been pregnant twice when I've been at WDW and had to endure a 9hr flight whilst 7 months pregnant with an 18mo and a 3 1/2 yo!!!

Both times I've been absolutely fine! Take all the advice you've been given on the boards, drink plenty of fluids, try to rest etc etc. The only bummer is not being able to go on any of the rides!!!

Last year was different for me - I finally got to go to WDW and I wasn't pregnant! The children (18m, 3yo & 5yo) and ME had a fantastic time and best of all I got to go on all the brilliant rollercoasters :D

Go to Disney World! It WILL be hot, very hot, so be prepared to rest a LOT, and drink lots and lots of water and juice (as if you didn't spend enough time peeing already!). And, maybe you shouldn't try to plan on keeping up with the rest of the family...leave the kids with DH's sister or mother & head back to the hotel to nap and/or cool off in the pool every day. And maybe you can take advantage of the kids' clubs in the evening, so you & DH can have a few romantic dinners while you are able (I know how few & far between romantic dinners are when you have a newborn to care for!). I think it's a fantastic idea to have a family vacation before the new arrival...maybe your two young children can even pick out a few gifts for their new baby while they shop in all the cool Disney stores.

Best of luck to you:)

I went twice last year pregnant--I was about 6 months pregnant when we went in June. all the tips here are great. deb's site has some great hints as well for pregnant moms (I"m a little partial to that part of the site because I'm quoted on there :) ). just drink plenty of water, remember your vitamins, and put your feet up a few times a day.

I didn't see anything mentioned about charlie horse-cramps....I got terrible ones during my pregnancy, sometimes all the walking made it more likely for me to have one....if that's a problem for you, then you might want to take extra care :)

make sure you know where all the potties are, too.....

If you can I'd wait and postpone the trip. Just because it'll be so hot and you'll miss out on a lot of the rides. It's just so expensive anymore and i would want to go when i knew I'd be getting the most for my money.

I went away(not to WDW) when I was 7 months pregnant with my son. On my trip we did a lot of walking and standing around. My legs swelled up, I had no knees-lol. I was basically miserable and I spent most of time in the air conditioning. Plus I was in very good health and only gained 20 pounds but it still really wore me out. I regretted it and I didn't even spend a lot of money on it.

If you wait and go after you have the baby I think it will be much more enjoyable but this is just my humble opinion.;)

Well, you have already gotten tons of advice..but, I say go for it. I have gone twice when pregnant and one of those times in June. As long as you pace yourself, have comfortable shoes and give yourself a good break in the heat of the day, you should be fine. Also, some of the inside rides, etc. are nice for the afternoon, but the rest of your group will probably think that too. Best of luck to you and hope you have a great time.
