I appreciate your dilemma. Ive done the same thing when trying to squeeze out an extra trip each year. It can certainly be a point-saver. However, I have found that staying in the studio more than two nights can be a bit claustrophobic. I actually stayed a week in one with three other friends on a ladies-only trip, and that was an experience! We are all still good friends, though, even surviving one of us (me!) coming down with a miserable cold. I was marooned in the room for more than hours than I want to remember and I was close to climbing the walls when I was awake enough to notice them!
It is nice to be able to stretch out a bit, something that the studio does not really allow you to do. With just two adults, it is fine and certainly do-able. I use it now when unable to get my first choice of accommodations for a couple of nights. But it is too close to a hotel room to truly enjoy the pleasures of
DVC ownership. And if you are not careful, some of the studios do not have windows (only porches), so they can be a little dark and cave-like. Many people do not care about such things, but a window can make a small space seem much more spacious. Also, it is nice to get away from your significant others from time to time just to sneak in a quick nap or time out.
It is also nice to be able to do a wash in your own place instead of using the facilities at the pool (which Ive used a few times). I find I dont pack nearly as much and simply put in a load of clothes as were heading out for the parks or the pool.
So my vote is to go for the one-bedroom. Life is too short
and so are vacations! The studio certainly has its place and is fine for a short trip
.I wouldnt hesitate to use it on a three-day weekend, for instance. But stretching out on the couch with all those pillows after a long day is extremely comforting. It works like a tonic for me!
