Would you make the drive twice?

Keep in mind that flight prices are at their lowest 20-30 days out so looking NOW for flights that far in the future is only going to give you the most expensive flights. Set up a fare alert on Travelocity and it will notify you of flight price changes but if you are looking to fly, it isn't worth spending a lot of time looking now.

As for transfer's, look into renting a car. With the last minute deals, etc. that you can find at many car rental places, especially National, you could probably rent a car, drive it to port, park it, and drive it back after the cruise for less then the transfers costs. Just something to look into.

I would drive down and have DH meet us there later.

Break the 17 hours into 2 days. We drove to Ohio a few years back. Only 1 driver. Drove about 8 hours the first day, then the rest the next.

But yes, I WOULD do the drive 2x....but I would hate to have to spend the money to do it 2x.

I would do it. We are a good 7 and a half hours North of you and can do Orlando in one day. We once made it in 19 hours

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! I never thought to look out of Allentown... we sometimes fly out of Baltimore, so driving out of Allentown would be fine too!

I know that I would never make the drive myself. I hate driving... (and I am not a confident driver either - I get lost easily, have the worst sense of direction and I don't like driving in major construction and with a lot of big trucks) If my DH is with me I'm ok... (I know, I sound like a big baby ) So, there would be no way I would feel comfortable driving that far myself.

We drove down twice last year - May and August - so I don't think it is nuts.
