I don't know where this thread has gone, but I've read page 1 and see there are many others who would not lie.
I would not lie to give someone a job, regardless of the circumstance!
I am quite proud of my mother law. One time her car broke down and she was about 100 miles from home. She called a towing company who took care of the business at hand. The towing bill was well above 100 dollars. Her husband is a member of Triple A. They did not realize that she wasn't covered too, or they'd have paid more for the membership to cover them both, and have since made those changes. While out one day, her car broke down. She paid; out of pocket, X amount of dollars. She then called Triple A for reimbursement. She was told all she had to do to collect a refund was state that her husband was in the vehicle at the time. The staff at Triple A pretty much pleaded with her to lie and state as much. Being a Christian, she just couldn't do that. She told them, if those were the rules, she couldn't live with herself if she did that and she ended up footing the entire bill herself. The 100 and something dollar bill was more than she wanted to pay, but she would not lie to save that amount of money.
In her situation, I would have lied in a heartbeat, but it just makes me respect her all the more.
