For halloween our DD (3.5) is in LOVE with spiderman. Would you let your daughter dress up as a boy costume for halloween? Can you think of any way to make it more femine? Maybe some wings or a crown or something??

Absolutely! And I wouldn't make any attempt to make the costume more feminine. Nothing wrong with a girl being spiderman (without any alterations). :)

what's wrong with a girl dressing a spiderman?

and no, i would not alter the costume to make it more feminine. she's 3.5. who cares about that at her age? let her be who she wants.

I was Spiderman when I was 3. :rotfl: I was so obsessed with Spidey that my Mom even bought me boy Underoos because they didn't have girl Spiderman Underoos.

I swear that it has not had any affect on my femininity as an adult or traumatized me in any way. ;)

same :)

why can't a girl be spidergirl? I wouldn't bother to make it feminine. Similarly, if my boys wanted to do something more "girly" that would be fine too.

My DD was Buzz Lightyear for two years.

I don't think you "need" to make it any more feminine. However, DD didn't want to wear the hood that came with the Buzz costume. I made her some cute hairbows in co-ordinating colors. She looked adorable, and got lots of attention.

Wow - how adorable! Love the bows... your daughter looks adorable. OP - I agree, I don't see anything wrong with letting her be Spiderman. It is Halloween... and that is the perfect night to be something fun and different! :)

Of course! We have no gender distinctions around here at all. Unfortunately, society does, and this poses problems at times.

I don't get the whole gender distinction thing at all...

Hope your DD has a wonderful Halloween! Tiger :)

Why not? Let her be what she wants to be. My oldest was 3.5 last Halloween and she went as Scooby Doo. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I would (and I have.) I don't see any reason to put gender limitations on either sex.

Halloween is about trying out new personalities. Your Daughter must be very imaginitive if she can see herself as a superhero and a boy. Good for her let her have fun with it!

Of course! Heck, I tried to convince ds7 to go as an irish dancer to get some use out of dd9's old solo dress and wig, but couldn't sell him on it! :lmao:

DD dressed up as our local football team's mascot the year she was 3 - she was in love with Gainer and she loved dressing up as him!!

While we were out, we got a lot of "What a cute little boy" comments, to which I replied, "she is adorable" (nicely). People just assumed, and were very apologetic when they found out.

If you are ever successful let me know! I've been trying for years to get my DS to use his sisters old dance costumes!! I mean I have years and years of them in every size and style he could want. I keep telling him he would be an adorable ballerina but he isn't buying it.

She is 3 for goodness sake let her dress up as whatever she wants, who cares if it is a boy or a girl.

Yes! Let her be spiderman. My dd dressed as a power ranger when she was 4. She was Taizon, the silver ranger. She had the yellow ranger costume (girl) too, but the other was her favorite.

I would let her in a heartbeat! If you wanted you could always put her hair in pigtails or something, to make it "known" that she is a she...

Let her be spiderman -- gender rules for anybody under the age of 5 are ridiculous. (And most gender rules for people over the age of 5 are ridiculous, too.)

My DD 7 is going as Darth Vader this year. She's been planning it since the day after halloween last year :rotfl: We even had to drive to every Target in the area last year so I could get the costume 75% off :rotfl2: Absolutely. I never ever ever put gender barriers on either one of my kids. I think it helps build a stronger, more positive self image.
