I will just leave this here while I go get the closeup shot...

Now that I look at it, I think it is actualy on the race track.

United States Grand Prix, Indianapolis, Indiana.

$10 thousand is just my guess...

I sure hope the photographer is not far away. Somebody could knock it over and crunch it.

I wouldn't be worried about it walking off, however - you have to have security clearance to get onto the track, which limits the number of people down there, and it's not something you can put into a pocket or gym bag and smuggle out easily.

Plus a lens like that would be easy to find in any of the local pawn shops.

we usually do that in the areas that require security clearance to enter. But my friend still got his bag of Hassy (from film days) stolen. The whole bag with all his lenses, everything.

My NBA seats are just behind where the photogs sit and they all leave all their gear laying on the court at half time while they go to the media room. There is some seccurity but not enough to make me feel comfortable. Ove rthe years I could have easily swiped an extra lens or media cards. I don't think you'd get out with a camera and giant l-series lens but there are people who shoot with maybe 70-300mm on 30Ds.

I've always been more concerned on people stepping on them. They are all laying in an area where people are walking to get to the restaurants.

There was a crash on the first lap. Everyone ducked or ran away, except the photographers. They ran towards it! hehehehee

nobody was hurt

This obviously shows that I have no idea what i should be looking for, but... what was left behind???? Is it a camera on a tripod or what looks like a camera bag to the right side? Or, are neither guesses correct? Sorry - I am more attracted to checking out the race car. :confused3

It's a camera on a monopo, about 1/3 in from the left side of the shot, leaning against the jersey wall.

What makes it so expensive is the tremendous white lens - a mondo-expensivo Canon L-series lens.
