Would you have added on @ SSR if...

you would have seen more pictures of it first before the price increase?

In other words if I would have saw some of those pictures at the lower price I think I might have been tempted, but now with the higher price I don't think we will add on there despite how fab I think the resort looks so far.

I wonder if DVC wouldn't have been so secretive if they would have had even more sales at SSR from existing members?
Thoughts?

In our case I would say no. We love SSR and all the advantages it has(food court,GV's,Downtown Disney, etc) but we already have enough pts(700) between our 2 home resorts already.

But we are very much looking forward to using the 7 month window and staying at SSR for 2 nights in Feb, before our cruise. I think when SSR is completed it shouldn't be a problem of getting reservations there at the 7 month window(besides holiday weeks).

I think DVC has done an excellent job with SSR!!::yes::

It worked opposite for us. We thought we would not like the area. We thought we would just use our existing points to try to it out once. But when the pictures came out, we were inspired, in spite of the increase in cost to do it, we added 100 points this week before it went to $95.

In our case, we were ready last fall to purchase 200 points, sight unseen, at SSR. Because we wanted to go 4 months later, our guide advised us we could get those 200 points at BWV, and make reservations the next day. It was a giant leap of faith, because we had always talked about buying into DVC, but had never even visited a resort. I, too, would like to trade at the 7 month window some time at go to SSR.

I don't think I would have actually bought but I have to say the pictures have raised my level of interest. I don't think they really conveyed the vision for SSR before these pictures came out. It seemed more like "a DVC resort replacing DI" rather than a starting from a clean slate. Not knowing before the price increase is a loss for us. Increased interest at the time the price goes up is a plus for DVC.

DVC is going to have the same problem they had when DVC first started -- this new resort is off the beaten path for the majority of Disney visitors, especially first-timers. They are going to have to step up the marketing throughout the resort to bring people over to see SSR. If they can get people in to see the resort, I think they'll see sales continue to increase.

Unfortunately, with DS going to college in the fall we won't be doing any add-ons any time soon but I did like the look at SSR which I did not get from the initial offerings. Pictures speak a thousand words. Annmarie

There reall isn't any new info out there. Remember that SSR will be easy to book, for all but the most difficult of times or units (GV), once it nears completion. So you can always stay there if you want.

We bought sight unscene also. After getting a look at what we paid for, I think we did the right thing. We are very pleased.

As far as an add on, I hope our 250 pts. will hold us (family of 4) over for a while. However, only time and our checkbook will tell. :wave2:

P.S. Happy Mothers day to all you DM's too.

I can't wait to stay there. I can't book until later in May but hope to get a studio or 1 bedroom for 1 night before our grand gathering at BWV. Since it will be for a Saturday night, and as of now, there are units available, I think we'll be alright. I could perhaps bank those '04 Vero Beach points we just purchased, but we would rather go and see things NOW!

But no, I don't think seeing the pictures would have caused us to add on, however, we are open to the fact that staying there might make us think more seriously about it.

I wouldn't have added on. We have enough points but I agree with your idea that some people may have that now will not.

We like the looks of it and will definately try it at some point in the future, but we have enough points for us so no we wouldn't do an add on.

Forgive me, but....from my point of view that is the UGLIEST DVC resort they have built yet (and I thought that couch at BCV was going to be impossible to top, or the shower curtain at BWV - which can induce nightmares topping those that Pennywise induces) - had I bought sight unseen I'd be really upset.

(I know everyone's tastes are different - I think VWL is the best decorated - lots of folks find that too dark....something for everyone. Everyone who loves it can take comfort in knowing I won't be staying there unless I have no choice)

Probably not. We will probably not be able to use the extra years of membership. We already have 515 points and probably would not need more -- if we did -- resale is much less expensive.

Although we definetly do plan on staying at SSR at some point and will probably check out the resort on our next trip we would not have bought even if we had seen lots of photos. We actually did tour the SSR models when the price was low and we did very much like the look of the villas but we did not feel an urgent need to make it our "home" resort. I do not think it will be a problem to book a room there at the 7 month window.

No.

I plan to stay there in the future but unless Disney comes up with a once per year event that just demands you stay at SSR I don't see the need to have SSR as a home resort. I'm happy SSR is coming on line because if I can go to Disney in October odds are this is where I'll be staying.

Hint to Disney...put together some type of fab event at DTD would probably help sell SSR faster.

Too funny, and I think VWL is ugly and is my very last choice. I love visiting the Lodge but don't enjoy the VWL rooms at all.

That being said, I would take VWL over paying cash for a regular room.

Aren't we glad that they have built some DVC resorts that suit us all.

just curious to know what you think they were secretive about. Not questioning your statement, just curious. Is it better looking than you thought it would be or is it something else?

No. We would not have added on. We really love the Epcot resort area and any future add ons will be there (although with the new BWV resale we just bought it will be a long time for any more points).

Now, if DVC offered free tickets for so many years like they did with OKW, then I think that might have sparked our interest:smooth:

No. 385 points and we are done. Love the Epcot area so want to stay there.

Same question here. We bought sight unseen last fall, but there was some information about SSR on the DVC website - the animated fly-throughs, etc - quite a bit, considering that it wasn't built yet.

We wouldn't have added on.

Our home resorts are VWL (for Xmas time) and BCV for the rest.
Next add ons would be there!!!!

We WOULD add on at an Animal Kingdom Villas or at a Monorail
Villa!!!!!
