Would you go to WDW by yourself for your birthday?

I'm going solo in December for my 40th bday and also my first trip to WDW, I had/have a lot of the same reservations as you but I've been reading through the solo trip reports and the more I read the more excited I get. I've already made my ADR's and I'm trying everything from table service seated alone, to family style sharing a table, to Biergarten where I'll be sitting with others on a bench style table... will it be weird? Maybe, but I'll never know until I try and I'd rather try and feel a little awkward than not try and miss out.

If my birthday wasn't a major holiday during peak season, I absolutely would.
Sounds lovely to me.

Yes.....but since I have my kids 24/7. I am thrilled ot go anywhere alone. Lol. If I were alone and had the money I'd probably take a tour too, I think it would be fun

Thanks for all your replies!!

I have quite decided the dates yet, but it will be either Nov 10 or 12 (can't get a flight through airmiles on the 11th) to the 23rd.

I was also thinking of doing a 3 day cruise, but I think I want to splurge and stay at the Boardwalk so I don't think I can afford both.

I am still working on my mom. :rolleyes1 I went solo in May and kept saying to myself, I wish my mom was here as she would really enjoy this!!

I won't be booking until the offers for November come out in August and hoping for a room discount but if it's not offered, will book FD.

Too bad that your dates are in Nov as mine are in Oct. We could have met up for a little while. I am from Kamloops, BC!

If no one was willing to go with me, probably. I'm pretty stubborn and am a huge Disney nerd. Also, we're both November babies. XD I'm only 20, but I was born November 9th. :) I don't think we've ever gone during Thanksgiving, though. We always try to pick a time close to my birthday that isn't too crowded. This year, we will finally be going to Disney "land" instead of Disney World, and we will be going the first week/weekend of October as an early birthday gift, since I am also a huge fan of Halloween and Tim Burton.

Can't wait to ride Haunted Mansion Holidays!!! I'll probably have my copy of "The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories" by Tim Burton in my purse with me while I ride and hail the Pumpkin King. <3

Hi ~ early October at DLR can be very crowded, later in the month is far better. Check out my favorite board here the DLR DIS board
Here's the Halloween Mega thread

I would do it in a heartbeat. Go and have fun and I hope you are sprinkled with a ton of pixie dust!

I hope to go this year for my birthday and yes, I will be solo too. Already have breakfast ressies for the Crystal Palace.

It's official. If I go (and I am pretty sure I am) it will be solo.

Just talked to my mom and she needs the vacation time to help my SIL.

My SIL had twins at the end of May (at 33.5 weeks) and they are finally getting out of the hospital tomorrow night :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

My SIL's sister was supposed to come and help her right when she got out of the hospital, but her husband is in the hospital with gallstones:scared1: So my mom has to take time off to help my SIL get into a routine.

It would have been nice to have company, but I will still have a great time on my own.

Lucky you. My bday is Friday and have been trying all day today to justify driving 700 miles tomorrow to spend the weekend Disney. Guess ill stay home and pout

Go for it! What better way to spend your b-day than doing whatever YOU want, whenever YOU want at Disney World?!?!?!? :cool1:

I will be turning 35 this year. I have always wanted to be in a disney park on my birthday, but it's usually Thanksgiving week. This year Thanksgiving is later. :dance3:

No one will come to WDW with me for my birthday (my mom is afraid it will be too big as she has lower back/hip/knee issues and refuses to get a wheelchair/scooter).

So, my question is, would you go to WDW by yourself for your birthday. I am thinking of throwing a 3 day cruise in there as well (a few days in the parks, cruise, then back to the parks).

Do you think people would feel sorry for me and give me strange looks for celebrating my birthday by myself? Especially in the table service places?

I have been to WDW twice on my own but have not eaten at many table service places. I would prefer to have my mom come, but I just don't think it's in the cards:sad1:

My birthday is alway right around Thanksgiving too; I've also never been on my birthday because of the holiday and would truly love to go.

To answer your question though - no, I wouldn't go by myself. I do things alone all the time; I wouldn't want to be in my happy place for my birthday alone.

YMMV of course

I agree with so many other posters. If you want to go, then go and enjoy your time.

I know it is difficult to just go on a trip by yourself. I traveled a lot for my former job and did things by myself that perhaps I would have been more hesitant to do if the trip were for enjoyment. I was fortunate to travel to some fabulous places in the world, but no one could go with me. So I ate by myself in some great restaurants, did tours by myself, and learned to just enjoy it. People laugh at me now because I will go by myself to many places and sometimes actually prefer it! And now some of my friends are following suit, doing vacations alone! So long as you are ok with it, GO! Have fun! And happy birthday!!!!!! Happy travels!
