Would you go the WDW alone?

I am doing a solo trip in 43 days. It started out as DH, DD and DS telling me that they wanted to send me to WDW to help with my winter blues. They wanted me to have my parents or my sister go with me as financially we would not be able to also send DH, DD or DS. :guilty: Well neither my parents or my sister want to go so I decided to go by myself. At first my family could not understand why I would want to go by myself but I reminded them that I do enjoy my alone time.

So I am using sky miles for my flight and staying at POP. I have no ADRs so I can eat when I am hungry. I intend to slow down and see the things that we normally rush past. I will know someone who will be there my last 2 days and we plan on getting together.
I cannot wait until DH and I get to go on our own sometime.

Although I much prefer to do Disney with my family, I have had some solo days at the park and have enjoyed myself.:earsboy:

I would love to go solo. I could find tons of stuff to do. Just hanging out with the pin traders and swapping pins all day is heaven for me. We went without the kids and had a blast. Each trip is special and unique in it's own way. I've met some people who went solo there and they had a wonderful time. :woohoo:

I'll go by myself or with others, whoever is available to go.I have fun any and every way I go!!

Thanks for all of the input folks. I am thinking about a quick trip down after the spring break crowds get done. I won't feel that guilty since we just got back. Now the big question, should I stay cheap or expensive. Hmmmm. Don't think I would do the dinning plan either.

Thanks,

Maz

I'd go with POP and the DDP! Can't lose there! You get a great hotel, and the best of foods! Or at least go CSR....Pepper Market and Margarita's......
Have a Magical Solo Vacation!!!!

I've done WDW 'solo' twice now. I have had friends there at the same time, but no family. We would split up at times, so there was plenty of solo time for me. I find that if I make the trip too long I start missing having family around. A week is too long for me. I think that if I do it again, it will be for 4 nights, rather than a week. Last spring I flew down to WDW on a Monday morning and my dh and dd arrived late Tuesday evening. That was close to perfect for me.

Only if you are lucky will you get away from those friends. :teeth:

Ive done 2 solo trips, the last one ended just last week. I enjoy them. But I go back in a few days with DH and the kids and now after my solo trip I am looking forward to spending time with them in the parks.

I've never gone to WDW solo before, but I would consider it. I went to a theme park once by myself before (when I was a teen), and I liked it. I like eating by myself and doing things on my own, so I think I can forsee a solo trip in the future.

...Granted, going to the parks is a family event and I would never go without them, but...What do you think? Have you done it? It would cost a lot less too. Just a gulity thought, Maz :joker:
I have been to Disney this year during a business trip and it made me appreciate a family trip to WDW even more. While it is true you only pay for yourself, you will have a lot of time, you can move a lot faster and you can change your plans without complaints...you have no one to share your experiences with. You don't get to hear your kids having the time of their life, you do not get to explore new festive foods with others nor do you develop special memories as you do when you stay with your family.

I've gone to Disney several times by myself. The only time I enjoy it is when the parks are almost empty. My only problem really is eating by myself. I feel so lonely, and I don't want to sit in a nice restaurant all by myself, so I end up eating at the "fast food" places.

All the time. But at this point I usually end up meeting friends down there.

But then I never got married or had kids, so pretty much all of life has been entirely a solo pursuit.

I'm a local (from north Tampa, about 35 min away) and I like to get my money's worth out of my annual pass. So if my friends or family can't/don't want to go, I never have a problem going by myself. I look at it as a home away from home, and I have no problem being alone in my home. ;)

Seriously, there are tons and tons of solo disney travelers. They're all over the place. I think most everyone would rather go with somebody else, but there's nothing wrong with hitting The World by yourself. In fact, it can be very relaxing if you just take your time and take it all in stride. Rather therapeutic, actually!

How about somewhere in the middle? I could easily do CBR with a waterview! But...if money isn't an option, I'd settle for a water view at the Poly!!!!

I have been going to WDW since before my kids were born, of course I would go without them. My kids are getting older now & do not want to go as often as I do (we live less than 3 hours away). My 20 DS never comes anymore, my 18 DD didn't come the last two times (12/1-12/4 & 12/15-22nd). My 14 DD has been the only one that has consistantly gone with me. On Dec 1st, she couldn't make it up there with me, she had her soccer championship game. I had my ressies since the summer & had no clue her soccer team would go that far. I was meeting my aunt & uncle up there, so I had to go. I left by myself on the 1st. My aunt thought I wasn't going to get there until later in the day so her & my uncle went to SeaWorld. I got to WDW by 8:30am!!! Alone!!! I did the MK.. hit all the rides I wanted to do, then headed over to AK. There, I did all the shows that I never can when with my DD....:rotfl2: I had a blast by myself! I would do it again in a heartbeat! My mom & uncle drove my 14 DD up on the 2nd.. so I did only have the one day alone... on the 2nd I was with my aunt, uncle, DD, and a friend of mine....

i love going to WDW on my own.

at first i took my brother - i loved it so so much - i went back in sept 2003 alone cause no one could come with me.

i went back in feb 2006 - again no one could come with me - and loved doing my own thing.

i am going back out to see mickey in feb on my own again - i love it.

do what i want when i want.

have fun!

I enjoy going with my sister...That is "alone" as I will go....She (63) lives in KY..and I (56) live in Michigan. We try to go a few times a year...just the two of us...We really agree on which park to go to..which restaurant to go to...When we go out to dinner..She will pay for everything on her American Express (She has to have those Sky Miles)...and when she gets home..she and her husband figure out my half...and I mail her a check. I have a few health issues and she is very understandable when it comes to that....;)

Now, when I take nine or ten of us every February...That is a different story..It's difficult trying to figure out where to go for meals with so many different "tastes"...Like I said, I have a few health issues...so many times..I tell my son's family to go off on their own for a while...so I can take my time ..and not hold the rest of them back....

It gives me much pleasure to watch somebody else get such joy out of watching or riding an attraction...It also is a "relief" not to worry about anybody but yourself, too....:rotfl:

My family is not able go to WDW as much as I can therefore I take many solo trips. I've been to WDW over 40 times and about a third of them were solo, they are not quite as much fun as with the grandkids be they are still great:yay:
