Would you go in May or December??

If you had the choice to either go for a 4 days in May or 4 days next December which would you rather do?? I desperately want to go back to WDW and Im trying to decide when to go.. One of the things I have been wanting to do soooo bad is to go to WDW when the Christmas lights and decorations are up, etc but I dont know if I can wait that long?? Should I just suck it up and wait so I can go then??

Personally I would choose May. No other reason other than the fact that December at home is exciting enough anyways!!!

My usual times over the past years has been both May and Dec. If choosing only one, Dec, though early, not near Christmas. Late Nov, after Thanksgiving is the best.

Do you say that because of the crowds?? Im not stuck with any one date but I really want to go when the Christmas decorations are up.. Do they typically have them up immediately after Thanksgiving?

I did a little searching and found that the week right after Thanksgiving is a good week and decorations are up.. I checked the value resorts and pricing isnt bad.. its just a little higher than the time I originally looked at but it would be worth it.. I think I found when we will go..

We've never been in May but have been in July, December (twice), January, and February. Our first December trip was in 1997, our second was this past week (woke up in WDW this morning!).

The December trips are sooooo much better. You just can't overstate how pretty everything looks all decorated for Christmas. I had forgotten how beautiful it all was. On the flip side, I think I could pass on MVMCP in the future. Not that I would avoid it but I wouldn't miss it if I didn't do it either (though the special Wishes show almost made it worth the money).

All the decorations are up actually before Thanksgiving. Also resorts are value rates after and up until a few days before Christmas. As for crowds, late Nov, early Dec has usually been uncrowded, but I have read some reports of fairly large crowds early Dec this year (I was not there this year, had to cancel due death in family, so only reading this year) Normally though, very light crowds.

Not sure about early December this year but this past week was walk-on for most of the rides until Friday evening. Prior to Friday evening, I can't remember waiting in any lines for even 20 minutes and most were 10 minutes or less. That's not to say Soarin' (or other popular rides) didn't get to 40 minutes at some point of the day but I road Soarin' 4 times in the 4 days I was there and 18 minutes was our longest wait (rode it Wednesday night twice in a row without getting off because there was no crowd).

I would go in Dec. Our first trip was the week before Christmas and it was great. Now, I just wish that the school calendars would work for me again so that we can plan a long trip right before Christmas again. The way it is working for the next few Christmases, we would have to go during Christmas week and I definitely would not try that.

I would go the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The weather is nice, the decorations are up, and the crowds are down.

Well, we have not been there any time of year that we didn't love, but I do have to say that we just got back from our third December trip and it is one of our most favorite times of year to go. No matter where you look, everything is decorated for the Holiday and it's just beautiful. If you have never been there at this time, I would give it some serious thought. I know it's a much longer wait before you get to go, but I know your going to love it.

Thanks for the comments.. I think I am going to stick with the week after Thanksgiving. .Unfortunately I will only have 3 days I can take off work so I think Im going with getting there the Tuesday evening after work and staying till the following Sunday which would be December 2nd.. I think we'll see some of the crowd from Pop Warner but we will have 3 nice days before then and I'll get to see the Christmas decorations and we can go to the Christmas party..

I wish I could go in both May and December but I think this is the best choice

We were there from Nov. 27 this year staying two weeks and the 28th was our first park day and it was brilliant. If you think you may be their during Pop Warner remember in the beginning all the teens are very much involved in events during the daytime so it shouldn't, hopefully, be too bad. It's only near the end of their stay that more and more of them show up in the parks. I know a lot of people really had a tough time of it this year but we were lucky because we didn't experience any problems at all.

Same experience with crowds. Went the 10th to 15th, and had similar wait times. Rode Buzz so many times in a row, my hand cramped up from holding down the trigger. Rode TT as much as I wanted by using the single rider line. Got FP for Soarin' just so I didn't have to wait 20 minutes. Of course Peter Pan had 40 minutes at times, but 40 minutes isn't much for PP. Saw 20 minutes posted most of the time I was there. The weather was nice. Early in the trip it was sunny and upper 70's. Later it was still warm, but cloudy. Rained 30 minutes one afternoon, and then a couple hours on Thursday. Not a big deal. Seeing the lights and decorations, with great weather, and low crowds, made the trip perfect. If I could choose a time to go, this would be it.

I understand not wanting to wait one whole year before going to WDW, I wouldn't be able to wait...so I'd say May.


However I have to say that IF you can resist, December is absolutely fabulous at WDW. Nothing compares, really.

If I had the choice, I'd want to get there as fast as possible and I'd choose May.

I have never been in May but my friends say that is a good time to go. We just got back from our first week of Dec trip and we both decided we will never go in Dec again. Good luck with your decision.
