My husband has a conference in Long Beach in Jan. and we could go with him and go to DL for a few days. His airline ticket would be paid for and we would have a free hotel room for a few days before going to Anaheim. Or we could go in June (mid) after school is out or mid August, but no freebies. What is better with crowds and weather?

Both.

Stay for free and buy an AP in January, have a nice trip. Go in June, you won't have to pay again for tickets, and it will be fun. :)

I'd take the free trip, and if you can..like bumbershoot said, buy an Annual Pass.

My personal opinions....

The weather is better (much cooler) in January...although it's more likely to rain...but I don't mind the rain.

There are fewer crowds in January after New Years.

However...more rides and attractions will be closed in January. Also the park hours on weekdays are much shorter.

Weekdays in June will have longer hours. More rides will be open. But there might be more crowds. The weather will be warmer...which might be a positive for some people (it's a negative for a cold weather lover like me.)

Hot weather is a negative for me too:headache: I love it on those rare occasions when it drops down to 30 degrees here in SoCal! I would definitely prefer January over June due to weather and also lower crowds.

Go both times-- one is free, well semi-free but that counts. I to would go January for the same reason. With the parks closing earlier i then do not feel bad about going to DTD after hours or to a movie or to see the pirate show in evening. It is much colder and ya possible rain but lines short so you get a lot done.

Have fun and happy planning

Both would be great, :cool1: but if I HAD to pick only one, I would go in January because it's less crowded.

We are in a similar situation. My husband has his choice of a conference in LB in Jan or one in Pasadena in June. He was leaning slightly toward the Jan conference anyway, but when we decided to add Disney, it was sealed. Shorter park hours are ok for us since we have a toddler. The crowds will be so much lighter in Jan.

mominalaska-
your husband must be going to the same one as mine- AAS. Mine wants to go to the MODEST meeting which is a few days later in Santa Barbara. Yes, I saw there was another in Pasadena in June. I will have to see how far that is from Disney. I would pm you but there was not that option under your name.

Pasadena is roughly about 1 to 1-1/4 hours from Disneyland, depending on freeway traffic. Oh, by the way, I see the PM option under her name when I click on it.

Jan: advantages- cooler weather, shorter lines, less crowded
disadvantages- good chance of rain, could be COLD, some rides wont be open, some shows won't be performing

June: advantages- all shows will be performing, all rides will be open (unless they break down!)
disadvantages- HOT, crowded, looooong lines

Personally I'd pick Jan (I can deal with cold and rain, not heat and crowds!)

Apologies for hijacking the thread...

I was wondering.... is it too cool in Jan. for swimming?? :confused3

I don't know, but this may help the OP as well - I know swimming is a must for my kids.

THANKS! :goodvibes

My suggestion would be January.... we went 2 years ago on Father's Day (June) and I swear we will never go again on a June weekend! It was insane. We have been in January during the week, and have walked on all the rides. With no lines, you can pretty much complete the park by 6pm. However, you could do as suggested and buy AP passes in Jan. and go back again in June but be careful as some of them have June blackout dates.
