Would you get plastic surgery?

I want a tummy tuck bad!!! I had an 11 lb baby and my skin stretched out REALLY bad. DH says I can have a tummy tuck if I lose all of the weight I want to lose....20 more lbs. I also have to choose between the tummy tuck and trip to England & Scotland. Right now, I'm leaning towards the trip because it would be a wonderful trip for the whole family. I will get my tummy tuck one day though.

Good luck!!!

I had an 11 lb baby, too. But it was the 10 lb baby 21 months later that made my skin stretch so much that I knew it would never go back!

A breast lift will put them back up where they belong. You cannot tell if if I have a bra on or not. They don't hang to my knees anymore and they are "perky" and where they were back when I was 15 and pre-kids!! Also, most plastic surgeons do an "anchor" incisin. Mine is not like that. It looks like a lollypop if you can imagine that. I guess a lot of the pain comes from the incisions under the breast. Maybe that is why I was feeling so good. All tissue was sent to pathology and came back good. All sensitivity is there, too. If you can get it covered by insurance go for it. Don't be afraid of the pain because there wasn't much. But then again I had 2 children with NO drugs. Wish I would have, but I didn't!! Any other questions I can answer???

I plan on having plastic surgery in the near future. I want a nose-job for sure, possibly a chin implant and cheek implants - really whatever the surgeon thinks I could benefit from. I also want a mini-face-lift, so I'd like to wait until I need the mini-lift so as to have it done all at once, but I'm getting impatient! I'd love to go on extreme make-over, but I couldn't stand to be away from my family that long, so I guess I'll just shell out the $$$$ for it myself. My DH is somewhat supportive (after LOTS of discussion and persuasion!), but my family and friends think I'm crazy. :teeth:

I, too, would love a breast reduction. I really didn't think insurance paid for it very often. I have an HMO, would I first discuss it with my primary doctor? DH has said many times that we could spend vacation $$$ on the surgery and I always opt for vaca!

But to answer your question, by all means, go for it. I think whatever makes you confident and happy about yourself and self image is well worth it. And Fantasia, Good Luck to you girl! I hope you are very happy with the results.

BTW, I had a Botox treatment on my eyes last year and my family (and I) did not really notice any difference so I did not do it again.

By all means, check with your insurance company. If you meet the requirements, they may cover a big chunk. My friend had PPOM and I think she had to pay a little to MD. I think when I got my EOB from Blue Cross, the final total was around $16000. Be sure to tell your doc that your back is bothering you, shoulders are sore, and sometimes get headaches. Unless you need referrals, you can go to a plastic surgeon. I did not go to my OB or primary doc.

I wouldn't have any surgery for purely cosmetic reasons. There is still a danger in any surgery, even "minor" procedures.

Yes, this is true. But the odds of something going wrong are so slim. The benefits (whether medical OR cosmetic) outweigh the risks. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had the $$ to get another procedure done. Luckily, I did not have to pay for the 1st one.

A few years back I was cut by a piece of flying glass on the forehead. A plastic surgeon just happened to be available that day, so he worked on it, and now I have only a small scar. I wasn't charged anything extra by my insurance company.

:D

Would I get elective plastic surgery? Not now, but ask me again in a few years!;)

You weren't charged because it was not an elective, cosmetic procedure. My DD had a cyst on her left temple. I took her to my plastic surgeon and he scheduled a removal/biopsy in his office at a later date. When we went in he gave her a painful local and then removed it in a draped, sterile manner. She had internal and external stitches. Now she is happy she did it even though she has a nice scar. "Better than having that 'thing' on my head!!" is what she tells me. This was all covered by BC, except for a $15 office copay.

Sorry about your DD! It sounds like it turned out really well, though!:sunny:

I was lucky that they found a plastic surgeon on duty, the ER was really crowded that night!:D

I could care less if it was anywhere else but the face!
 I was so thankful, that I even wrote the doctor a thank you note, lol!:sunny:

Thank you everyone for all your replies. I'm really excited and nervous about getting the procedures done. Next month, I'm having the Breast Reduction and Lipo under my chin done. No big boobs and no more double chin. Then later I'll have the tummy tuck. I will let everyone know how it goes after its over.
