Would You Fly on 9/11?

I heard a news story today that many people are avoiding flying on 9/11. The airlines are planning for a very light day.

I think it will be a strange day all around. I'm not sure whether the day long coverage the networks are planning is the right thing or not. It may turn out very nice. I don't think I would avoid flying on that day. I think it would honor the memory of those who died that day that we go ahead and fly. That we go ahead and take advantage of all the freedoms and benefits that we had before 9/11 and have not let anyone take away from us. On the other hand, I don't think I would intentionally plan to fly that day. Just because it would be too sad.

How about everyone else? I can't believe that it's been almost a year. :(

I would feel kind of funny flying on that day, but would if it was important that I do so

Yes I think I would fly on that day if I had something planned. For the exact reasons you said.

I would fly if I had a reason to, but as always, not fly, just to take a flight somewhere for the sake of flying. No problem at all with it.

If I had somewhere to go, I would fly on that day. I'm not sure I'd have much of a problem with doing that.

If I had someplace to go that day that I needed to fly, yes, I would get on the airplane. But, I'm not just going to get on a plane just to fly. I'm not gonna let those terrorists change my life, I continue to do things just like pre-9/11.

I'm planning to fly on 9/13. If I could get dh to agree to letting me go earlier, I would happily fly on 9/11. Hmmm, that's a thought, wonder if I could get a really good airfare if I leave on that day?

I have to fly 9/12 and I was hoping I wouldn't have to on 9/11... it just makes me a little nervous.:(

probaly not...I've only flown once..depends on the circumstances

Nope.

I also don't step on cracks or open an umbrella inside my house.

No real reason for it, I'm just superstitious.

I have never been on a plane and have always been a little nervous about flying even before 9-11. Goofys (my dh) and I had the choice of flying to ORlando on the 11 or 13. We chose the 13. It fits in better with work schedules and I am nervous enough about flying without making it worse!! I just don't think I can get on a plane this year on 9-11.

Under "normal" circumstances (ie. if DH was employed and we had $), we would probably be flying on or around then, as that is usually when we head to Disney. I would have no problem with it, as I expect that security will probably be even tighter that day and also I personally would feel like I was thumbing my nose at all terrorists by flying on 9/11.

I would have no fear with flying on that date. Since my plans are (at this time) not requiring me too....I likely won't be...but only for that reason. In my 'perfect' world....I'd like to either be in WDW that day...or most likely...attend a memorial service at my church (which I'm sure they'll have) on that day.

I wouldn't believe there would be any problems with flying on that day. Just might be mindful of what happened a year ago. Unfortunately, no time to go anywhere. :(

If there was a reason for me to be going somewhere, yes, I would fly on 9/11. I can't live my life in fear.

No, I won't fly on that day. I have to go on a trip to the cape, but I'm driving. I was a nervous flyer before that, and I would be too freaked out! Just being out of town on that day may be a little weird!:(

If I had to go somewhere on that day, yes, I would fly. But I don't mind admitting I would be a little aprehensive. It would also be a sad day, and I probably would not stop thinking about 9/11 the whole flight.

No problem. In fact, if I could, I would make a POINT of flying on September 11th. I flew more from September 11th to March 31s this past year than I have ever flown in a six month period. It was almost all planned before September 11th, but it really did wonders for getting me over the fear of getting back in the air. I am cautious and aware, but I will be darned if I am going to let the terrorists scare me to death or make me live in fear.
