We have a trip planned to WDW from 10/22-11/2. I just realized last night that 11/2 is election day. With hightened terrorist concerns being broadcast for around the elections, would you fly then? We would be flying back to Seattle that day.

With heightened terrorist alerts comes heightened security. You're probably safer flying then, than at any other time.

In all honesty there are no days I would not fly just because of the date, or an event going on that day. I totally agree that you are probably safer to fly then than now, for example.

I wouldnt worry about it at all....
Like Acepepper said, alerts/warnings =increased security.

I would fly but just be a little more wary of your surroundings and anything that strikes you as odd.

11/2 is my birthday. I hereby declare that nothing bad can or will happen on my birthday.

Of course....if it gives you an excuse to stay in WDW a little longer...

;)

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Have a great trip and relax.

I'm sure things will be taken care of at the airports-just enjoy your trip.

Don't forget to get your absentee ballot and send it in!!!!!!

::yes::

We're going down 10/20 - 11/3 and also leaving out of Seattle :teeth:

I'm not scared or worried, I'm going to go and have fun and the terrorists can kiss my bum!

Lets assume the worst and say that terrorists seize 10 Planes that day (a very, very unlikely event). Did you know that at any given time there are 4000-6000 planes in the air and that more than 1400 of these are commercial passenger flights? That means that even if you happen to be boarding a plane during the time when the terrorist seized their airplanes, your odds would be .7 out of 100 of being on one of the unlucky planes. The actual odds are even lower because of the possibility of the seizing cargo planes and the fact that you have a very good chance of choosing a flight time beofre or fter that of the terroists.

I would say that your odds would be about 1 in 500 to 1 in 1000 of being on seized plane even if the worst happens. So yes, I would fly then.

I feel your pain -- I posted a similar thread about a week ago concerning travel the last week of October. I feel better about it now than I did when I started the thread. Do whatever feels right. Only you can decide what's best for your family. :D

Thank you all for your responses. I feel much much better about it.

Ugh, math! I feel my brain shrinking as I'm reading this! :headache:

Cool. Another western WA Dis'er. Where are you? I'm actually in Lynnwood.

Yes, I would. I did fly a week after 9/11, to WDW, on a previously planned trip. As said, make sure to get that absentee ballot in.

We're flying from Germany to Orlando via Philadelphia on 9/11 ::yes::
If we start making decisions based on what some friggin' terrorists may do, those terrorists will have won!!!!
NO WAY, SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I solved all my flying fears by not flying anymore! If I can't get there in my van, I ain't goin'! :o ::yes::

I would DEFINITELY fly!

I'm not concerned that I'll be flying 3 days before the election and 5 days after.

I think they'll attack in a different way next time to be honest and I won't let them change my way of life either.

If by some chance something were to happen, which I highly doubt, then I would chalk it up to my time being up.

You bet I would fly. If I'm going to WDW, I'll do whatever necessary to get there.;)
