We'll be there mid-June. Me, my 35 yo brother (hasn't been to WDW in 25-30 years) and my two nieces, ages 8 & 10.

We plan to stay 5 nights. Right now we have CSR booked for 5 nights. I normally stay at WL. I think I'll miss having that big lobby and Bay Lake.

Thinking about staying 3 nights at CSR and then switching to WL for 2 nights. It'll cost $135 more.

I love WL and want my nieces and brother to experience it, too.

But will it be too much trouble. Any body who's done this have any advice?

Hi! I say GO FOR IT. Stay at WL second. Are you driving? If so, pack two bags each. Get set up for Express check-out (CC on file...) and check into WL on the 4th day and enjoy! Just be organized and it will be easy.

I have done it a few times, I personally don't find it to be a problem. If you really want them to experience WL and it may be there only chance then I say do it. :)

I'm sure it will be their only chance. I'm taking my two nieces and my brother is our "driver". Hahaha

He's too cheap to spring for a trip for them, however he is buying his own park hopper and food!

I agree that organization is the key. Also, you can have Disney transfer your luggage for you, so you don't have to worry about that (just carry what you need for the day with you).

We do this. You pack and call guest services the night before you are checking out, and again in the am to ask them to move your luggage to the new resort. You go to the parks, have a blast, and when it's time to return to your room, you just get on a different bus! It couldn't be easier.

When you get to the WL, you check in and tell them you had luggage sent over in the am. They deliver it to your room shortly there after.

Some people have experienced a delay int he luggage transfer, but what can't you do without for an hour? I think it's easy, smooth and a great way to experience more than one resort or a more expensive resort without going all out.

Enjoy!

Another vote for resort hopping!

We love to switch resorts. I think it makes the trip seem longer!

Have a great trip!

Teresa

I say go for it. If they'll have a chance to experience CSR & WL, what could be wrong?

As SnowWhiteRabbit said, have them transfer your luggage. You may want to take what you need for the day and go to a park or whatever you have planned. When you get back to WL everything should be there.

We'll be resort-switching for the first time this summer, and can't wait!

Last spring we were fortunate to be able to extend our stay, but our hotel wasn't available. We spent our first 3 nights at CBR and then switched to the Swan for 9 nights. For our switch day, we got up, got the car packed (Had small bag for the 3 day stay) checked out and went to Downtown Disney for the afternoon. I made an early lunch reservation at Fulton's and after some shopping we checked into the Swan and headed to Epcot for the evening. For us, it was not a hassle. And we loved staying at CBR. Make your plans accordingly knowing you don't have a "home" for a few hours and you'll do great! Enjoy.

I think it's a good idea. WL is awesome...and I think its worth a shot. There are those that really are anti-resort hopping just because it's disruptive to have to pack up and move in the middle of a vacation....understandable.

We've resort hopped on the last two trips and it was cake. Pretty much just call bell services and they take it from there...it's so nice that they transfer bags to resorts for you!

Just did this today - switched from the Poly to CR - seems like another vacation. We are spending 3 days at each of these resorts and then will switch again on Friday night for 2 nights at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort. We pack light to keep it simple.

we now resort switch often because the resorts are a major part of our vacation enjoyment, so switching up and getting two or so totally different 'flavors" really works for us. The only reason I wouldnt always reccomend it is if the stay at either resort is less than 3 nights only because when its 2 or less, it just seems to go by before you get to really enjoy it, but you should be fine, especially because I totally agree with your idea of letting the rest of your family experience the Wilderness Lodge. That is worth any price!! The constitution of the United States should include a provision that allows all men and women the right to spend at least one night at this fabulous resort!!!

We just got back from a Poly/AKL split stay. We spent 2 nights at the Poly, 2 nights at AKL, and it was great!! We got up and did EMH at MK, then we checked out of the Poly. We decided to have a cab transfer us from Poly to AKL, as that was easiest for us and it didn't cost very much. But, I think you mentioned you would be driving, so I would just head out to WL after you check out of CSR, check in, store your luggage until your room is ready, and go have fun! You can go to the parks, or just explore the resort, have lunch, etc. We just packed DD's swimsuit in her backpack and had lunch and a swim, and the room was ready! Easy as pie!
