We had planned on a Disney trip at the end of our annual trip to grandma's in a few months but a full trip is it financially impossible right now due to some home repairs (new septic) etc. I'm thinking of stopping for one day, however. We live up north and with kids getting older and having commitments our Disney days are getting numbered.
I have about 170 dollars in Disney gifts cards, plus about $100 reward I could get from my Disney visa. I also have a couple of remaining days on old no expiration tickets, for some of us . I think I would need to buy one or two tickets.
I'll have my dogs with us, so I will either need to board them or stay offsite for 2 nights and cut our visit short during the day. Trying to determine if it is worth it and if so the cheapest way to do it with the most enjoyment. It will be just me, and the kids so one room is possible, we will have a car if needed... Tempted to stay on site for maximum Disney time though.... What would you do?

I'm trying to do the same in April. My sister is getting married in key west so I'm trying to budget to stop in Disney for a couple nights with me and DS. I think I'm just gonna do MK and do a value a few nights so I can afford it.

The dogs might be hard on site unless you can afford the kennel.

I mean if you have a car maybe do offsite but just spend all day at the parks from open to close to maximize time. It's a tough decision but it seems you have the gift cards and rewards to use for a hotel room or tickets. I would do what you think is easier for the dogs. If keeping then offsite in a hotel is easier do that but if you can afford the kennel and think they would be alright there definitely go for onsite especially if it's a short trip.

hard to say, but with the info you've given I'd use the old passes for whom I could, grab a pass thats needed to (not) Magic Kingdom (cheaper) for a day, find a local offsite cheap kennel and find a deal at a value for a nite or two...a cheaper alternative is a night or two at a value,do lots of free/fun stuff on property, and go to a disney water park for a day....since it's on the way home and all:rotfl:

How would you feel about doing Universal instead? It is my understanding that the hotels at Universal are dog friendly. You also get front of the line access if you stay onsite. Just something to think about.

Huh, I did not know that about universal. I would like to , but my son is 4 and I'm the only adult and I know my girls want to do Harry Potter. I would not be able to do it with them and I'm not comfortable sending the youngest of the 2 of them through without me (she's my wanderer, and some of HP might be a little to scary for her too).

I have done 2 short trips this year and they were great. They are a good way of getting a little Disney however I left wanting more.

As far as my dogs, I would be worried sick unless I found a recommended kennel or a vet.

I'm not a big fan of Universal. That said, you can always wait in line with the kids and bail out before the ride with your son. I did that a couple times with a group we had going to Universal when I was vastly pregnant. I will say the theming was awesome. My pregnant palate did not like the butter beer. Yuck!

Since you have a car, your dollar will go farther with an offsite pet friendly hotel for 2 nights.

That day you check into the hotel can be spent at a in the Downtown Disney area soaking up all that Disney ambiance for free. Drop the dogs off at the kennel/reputable vet tonight so you can be away all day/night for your park day without concern for their needs.

The first full day wake up earlier than early and hit the Magic Kingdom. Yes, it's the most expensive park, but, it's also the biggest bang for your buck. Eat breakfast in your room, pack sandwiches from Grandma's house (since you only left Grandma's yesterday sandwiches should be fine if refrigerated) and snacks and cookies and drinks. Split a Counter Service meal or two for dinner. Make sure you check easywdw . com to pick the right day to hit MK. Nothing like spending big bucks on park tickets for one day and having it be overly crowded that day, and empty the next day.

Sleep in the hotel this second night. Check out, pick up your pooches and go home.

I second the water park suggestion. The tickets are less and they are really fun.
