Would you do Hawaii or do Disney Cruise?

I am debating here. I have been to Hawaii twice (once w/ children) and we did Disney Cruise last month. I love Maui, Hawaii and we love Disney...CRUISE!! Cruise is just a little cheaper than Hawaii cause the flight is longer and the hotel is a little bit more expensive there. But what would you do? Right now it's whale season! :flower1: :boat: :flower1:

Wow.

If DCL was cheaper I'd go with the cruise :teeth: but I do see the attraction with going to Hawaii. Haven't been there since our 5th anniversary (1995). :(

I would do the Cruise hands down!! :Pinkbounc

Well, since you just did a Disney Cruise... I would say Hawaii this time.... and then do the Disney Cruise on your next vacation :D

Been to Hawaii 4 times, never with the kids. Haven't been since 1982, don't intend to go again. My vote with with the cruise, or any cruise.

I say do whichever your kids enjoyed more. If they loved our beaches then come. If the beaches on the cruise were just as good I'd say go on the cruise. Being from our land of Aloha my kids can't wait to get on that Disney boat. Forget going to the beach..they'll take the boat anyday.

P.S. I think the volcano is erupting in Hawaii (the "big island" not oahu now).

It depends on where you live. I'm on the east coast and would go absolutely nuts flying that many hours to hawaii- not to mention then dealing with the time change. BWI to Orlando is about my limit on a plane LOL!

DH is leaving tomorrow for a conference (or so he says) in Hawaii. Gets back and then 4 days later we leave for our cruise. How's that for the good life?

It's a very good life!! :D

Still debating here. Maybe I should just do WDW? I got WL courtyard view for about just a little over $1,000 for 7 nights Feb 12-19. Would it be cheaper to do WDW rather than Disney Cruise? We're probably just going to do a four day park and three day relaxing (enjoy what WL has to offer and resort hop and shop at Downtown Disney). Hmmm... I think I'm just confusing myself here. Can someone un-confuse my brain?! :earseek: Thanks! :D

Well, I have to say that Hawaii simply because that's my dream vacation. I've always wanted 2 go 2 places, 1 being a cruise regardless of where it went and 2 being going to Maui.

I would do Disney through Hawaii. I know that is not the question though. I would cruise gawaii before I would do a land stay. Kind of the best of both worlds

If your kids are the age of your picture, I would go with the cruise. I just got back from Hawaii and I still think the kids would enjoy and appreciate it more when they are older -- old enough to do the 'really cool' things. Right now, I think your kids are the perfect age for the DCL again.

Regarding a cruise to Hawaii . . . I looked at the RCI itinerary and I would not want to do this. I love the movement of the ship and it looks like some of the ship sit anchor in port (Maui) for 2 days. And, the most beautiful aspects of the islands are *seeing* the islands. You can't do that on a ship. Although it would be nice to not pack and unpack to get from island to island, but I don't think it would outweigh the benefits of enjoying each island to the fullest.

Yes, the pixs are no more than 6 months old. They are 5 (turning 6 in Feb) and 8. I want to put their current pixs but...I am just so not good at putting the pixs up! I was lucky enough someone from the DIS (Thanks Dan Murphy!) help me blow up the pixs so we can all see their faces!

Yes...the kids love the Disney cruise! And so do I! My daughter who was going on 4 didn't remember a whole lot when we were in Maui. What she remembered though was the helicopter ride (she cried, she didn't like it), but I think she remembers the Luau. The kids and I enjoyed watching the girls do the hula dance and the fire twirling. They love playing in the sand...so anywhere where there's a beach, they're happy!

Anymore thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!!

I have done both, and with the ages your children are now, I would definitely vote with the cruise and go to Hawaii if you are able in a few years..

Just my opinion...

Princess has 15 day round trip sailings from Los Angeles to California at very affordable rates. Best of both worlds.

Having been to Hawaii 4 times (always with at least one kid, now two), I can't wait for our first Disney cruise! Even if we traveled with other family members, my DH and I hardly ever got time just the two of us. We found lots to do, beaches are awesome; a rental car is a must. But, I am so looking forward to having adult time in adult areas mixed in with family time.

So, unless one is fortunate enough to take a nanny, I vote for the cruise and all that comes with it!
