14 nights = 14 TS meals for DDP

Dinners are better values than breakfast , but we love Ohana's and 1900 Park Fair breakfasts (only would cost our family about $90 each).
So for about $160 a day for 4 adults on DDP - we would have to spend another $70 on CS & snacks to break even. $70 for lunch seems a bit much.

:confused3 So if you did 2 TS breakfasts and 12 TS dinners on DDP would you still purchase the DDP ? :confused3

Thanks !

Yes. But don't go by my answer because I don't order the most expensive thing on the menu in order to beat Disney and I'll use a snack credit for a bottle of water if I'm thirsty... Of course the benefit of this is I never have left over credits because I'm not counting and saving for what may come along tomorrow. Disney is going to win or they wouldn't offer the plan so I use it for the sake of convenience.

The short answer is - do you want convenience? Having everything paid for upfront is worth it to me. If you were going to have 12 breakfasts it's not worth it. Two breakfasts and 12 dinners more than evens out IMHO.

mrsltg thank you. I think we will do the DDP for convience. My friends did DDP a year ago (still had appetizer and tip included) and they raved about it.

We do like some breakfasts - we could always do an OOP for a less expensive breakfast and do a 2 TS dinner like Cindy's or California Grill.

Thank you for the advice :goodvibes

Even with some breakfast buffets, especially if it's only 3, you will still save money. And just for planning purposes, you can figure that a CS credit is worth about $14 on average (some places less, some places more) and a snack credit is about $3 on average. That's $17 a person, or $68 a day. So even on your cheap days it looks like you'll probably break even.

Last week we were on the DDP for 4 nights. Our 4 TS credits were one breakfast (Park Fare) and three dinners. 2 adults and 2 children and we saved over $200.

Even though breakfast buffets are not the greatest value once you dollar cost average for the entire lenngth the plan will still be at least a breakeven. If you'd feel better trying to make lunch add up to $70 go to Peppermarket!

We are doing 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 4 dinners and it will still be a deal for us. The convenience is great and I will squeeze everything I can out of the CS on the days we need a breakfast out of it, too! :crowded:

We don't normally eat desserts ... so if I were to sit down and do the math, on a strictly OOP basis, the DDP wouldn't necessarily be worth it for me.

Also, without the DDP, we wouldn't be doing so many TS meals.

In actuality, being on the DDP would dramatically alter our normal eating pattern so it's hard to compare.

Generally, for us, it wouldn't be worth it.

We are going for 6 nights in October and right now we have 5 character breakfasts planned and 1 late lunch planned for our TS meals. Adding in the snacks and CS meals (using conservative estimates) we are still saving about $150. by being on the DDP.

I think you will normally find out that most people come out about even if not saving money. I think even with the breakfasts you will be fine. I can't see you losing any money on purchasing the DP if that is what you are concerned with. Plus with the benefit of pre-purchasing and having it paid prior to going is a benefit in its own.
