Would you do an adults only dinner out? If so, where?

My kids are always begging me to go to one of the child care centers when we pass them. I was thinking of doing this for a dinner one evening on our upcoming trip to the Boardwalk Inn. We have 3 kids, so I don't think I would want to do much more than 2-3 hours ($$), so I am thinking I should do a restaurant at or near the child care center.

I just don't know where I would want to go without my kids. :confused3 I personally *love* character meals and seeing my kids get so excited over the characters. So that's what I usually book. Not sure what to do without them! :rotfl:

Oh - and I would rather not be in a park as we have 4 day military tickets and are staying 5 days. I would like to do this on our day we don't go to the parks. Otherwise, I would just find a fab place in the World Showcase while parking them at the Beach Club. But I think this would be a great thing to do on a non-park day to be more exciting.

Thanks for your help!

If you want fancy I would go with California Grill or for just a really nice meal with great service I would do Kona Cafe or Ragland Road:thumbsup2

DH and I did this... although the kiddos were older...

We ordered them a pizza in the room (they wer 16,15,14) and went to Captains Grille... (we were staying at Beach CLub)

Captains Grille must have changed a lot since then (2008) because I see a lot of good reviews... I wouldn't go back there ("Based on our experience") for a "romantic meal"....

So forget what I've experienced... what I would recommend is the BC Babysitting...then head over to Flying FIsh....and the romantic Boardwalk area...

Time it so you can see Illuminations while you are walking back to pick up kiddos... should be a Great night...

Hugs,
Mary

If you are not on the dining plan, I'd urge you to look at the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin right by the Boardwalk. They are much better than the restaurants on the dining plan and are definitely more adult oriented and will feel like a special evening out rather than just dining without the kids.

Out of the ones in the area that are on the dining plan, Flying Fish is my favorite.

Two great choices would be The Flying Fish or Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Both of these are located in a boardwalk resort: FF at the Boardwalk, and YSH at the Yacht/Beach Club. The food is great at both and the choice would be whether you want seafood or meat. :thumbsup2

We're considering having an adults-only dinner on this trip. Right now, I have a reservation for Cali Grill during Wishes for the 4 of us, but will try to switch it to just 2 if we decide we want to go alone.

Unfortunatley, our children aren't old enough for the Disney-run centers, so we'll be either hiring a friend's nanny or using Kids Night Out.

We also considered Artist Point and Flying Fish.

I just love Narcoossee's at Grand Floridian  but I also loved the California Grill which has the very best Sushi I have ever had in my life. All that said, on our last vacation (September) we dined 3 times at Artist Point
(We were staying at the Wilderness Lodge.) You cannot go wrong, the food is to die for. The ones you are writing about are expensive. If you are on the dining plan, it is two credts (per person) well spent.

Ditto.

Camp Dolphin

Ther4 is cimolimentary childcare at Camp Dolphin for 2 hours = check the link for more info :)

Wow! That is a good deal! Thanks for posting this info. I will definitely be considering doing this since we are not going to be on the dining plan.

I also had forgotten about Artist's Point at the WL. They have childcare, and I have never eaten there. Great ideas.

Flying Fish sounds like a winner too. I will have to poke around and see if any AR's are available at any of these places.

Thanks for the ideas and tips. I am truly grateful.
