Would you do a no expiration option?

I think our next trip would be in 2016-2017. And I expect we'd do 5 park days. Maybe 6 most.

We have family in Florida and visit often. A subsequent trip for a day or two is very likely. But probably not until after than next big trip. Say 2018 or 2019, maybe even 2020. OK, maybe not that far out if I already have tickets. haha

Would you say the 7 or 8 no expiration park hopper would be worth it? I feel like I need these tickets now that they are going away. Of course, they've always been on my mind.

For park hopping, I suspect over 7 or 8 days we'd want to hop 2 or 3 of those days. (It makes sense to have 1 park per day for the 5 or 6 day trip, and to fit in 2 parks 1 day on a 2-day trip.) My kids are 2 and 7 now and I expect they will be 4 and 9 for the next. So I'd get the child tickets on the understanding that the child ticket will still get us through (according to research) when she's 10, 11 or even possibly 12.

Talk me off a ledge? Or convince me I need these?

FYI - Disney is no longer offering hte no-expiration option. Hopefully you can find some through a seller like Undercover Tourist.

Personally, I feel in the long run, if you are going to use them for multiple trips it is cheaper to purchase the non-expiring tickets. You get the benefit of the cost per day being less since you are purchasing multiple days & the fact the the ticket prices keep going up.

It's not worth it in your case (I'll use the approximate prices in my example):

8 day hopper NE = $666/$647

6 day hopper = $382/$361
6 day = $332/$303
1 day Mk = $107/$101
1 day MK hopper = $146/$140

So if you get a 6 day hopper, and two single day MK tickets (no hopping on the MK days) you are at $596 for an adult. If you get a 6 day hopper, a single day MK ticket and a single day MK hopper you are at $635. If you get a 6 day without hopping and two single day hoppers, you are at $624. Note that the single day may go up when you need it and if you kids are over 9, you would have to get them an adult whereas if you have a NE and it is used once as a child, it will be upgraded to an adult when you child turns 10.

In general the NE were better for trips where you had 3 or less park days. If you went over, your cost per day was better if you get a 4 day MYW ticket.

If you are getting NE tickets, I would always add the Waterparks. An 8 day with Hopper/WP is $692/$672. Effectively you are getting 8 NE waterpark visits for $26. A 10 day with Hopper/WP is $769. For another $80 you would get 2 more park visits and 2 more WP visits.

If you are going to do that... go for the 10 day. The difference in cost is almost a freebie. If you can locate a no-expiration ticket, the longer you spread it out the more value it produces. Not only does it give you pre-paid visits, but, you manage to skip over a number of rate increases. It's not cheap, but, for long range planning, it is somewhat of an overall savings. Just remember that if you are going to park hop at all, you need to buy the park hopper ticket. Extra days will not let you hop. One price, pretty much for that regardless of whether you used it 1 time or 10.

I have to check out the availability of no-expiration tickets. I know that Disney took them off the website order options, but, that was a while ago and they have sold them if you called in or bought tickets from their authorized venders. They might still be available that way. I just haven't had the time to research it yet.

To me they are worth it, especially if I get a desire to head on down to WDW. Knowing that I have park admission already paid for, makes my decision much easier. P.S. I also stay offsite so that makes it a little less complicated.

1. No Longer offered from Disney at all, as of last Sunday.
2. Still a very few left in stock at authorized resellers (like UT.)
3. Room-only at WDW is no more complicated for holding separate tickets than elsewhere.
AP holders stay on-site without buying tickets each time.

Yes, it's the Undercover Tourist NE passes that I am considering, through Mousesavers for the extra savings. Sounds like I need to do more number crunching.

Rule is at least three trips in the ticket to make it worthwhile. But also remember if you're going to hold the ticket for years, the money you ultimately save may be less the money you would have made if it was invested.

Ticket prices rise probably 5%/year. Most people don't get that investing :)

Wow, no expirations no longer available? Thats a bummer, sure glad I just bought some in January!

Also, with the childs ticket... I had a 5 day NE park hopper that I bought when my son was 4 years old, he turned 21 this year and had one day left, which they switched to an adult ticket. Told us they didn't penalize him for growing up, lol. Not sure it that was a fluke, but it was sure nice.

We are planning on going in June/July on tix that we bought w NE in 2009. At the time 2 adult and 1 child w NE cost approx $1000 for 7 days. We could only spend 2 days at the parks. That would have cost approx $500 w/out NE. So, we bought the extra days intending to use them in the future. We would have liked to have gone before our youngest turned 3. Alas, she's already 4. But, the tix we bought were for our son and he will be turning 10 this summer. So, we want to go before we have to upgrade.

I always buy the no expire tickets.
Just bought 10 day no expire tickets from maple leaf a couple days ago.
Usually get them from UT but at time they did not have 10 day.
Saw today UT had the 10 day no expire back.
They also have them at orbits

If you buy the NE tix now w/out hopper would you be able to add it later if/when you do want to hop?

Our trips are usually 4 days (in the parks) or less so I've always bought NE. This time we're going for 5 days and taking advantage of the 5-day hopper for the price of a 4-day from UT and saving our NE tickets for another trip as the UT deal is cheaper per day. :thumbsup2

Stocking up on non-nonexpiring tickets will also protect you against ticket price increases.
