Would you do a 3 day trip???

I did a three day trip last January for the marathon. It was great. I came home thinking that I had to take more weekends away. I came home ready for the new semester, refreshed and ready to go. I think if you can work it out, go for it!

Hi,

We'll be going on a 3 day trip in May & just doing what we like. Just to have fun & get away!!!

The short answer to your question is yes I would do a 3 day trip(we do it all the time) but I wouldn't even think about doing that on Easter weekend.

Reading further, I see you're thinking early June and I would definitely do that!

As far as the price goes, I didn't think $1400 was bad at all for 6 of you but I'm assuming you've got APs as you are regulars so all that money is in food and lodging? Perhaps you can cut corners on the lodging and only do one sit-down meal per day, pop tarts and donuts in the room for breakfast, counter service for the other meal.

Anyway, we do 3 and 4 day trips every year and it is just the right amount for our family. By the 5th day, we're worn out and ready to head home....we know we'll be back.

Hey, have you guys ever done a water park? This would be a good trip to try one if you haven't yet

Our family only has 4 full days every year to enjoy WDW and we enjoy ourselves VERY much!! If you need the time away(as we all do now and again) I wouldn't hesitate to go. Make the reservations, pack up the vehicle and go!!

I'll be spending 4 nights, but doing only 3 park days and bringing that 4th day of the PHs back home for "seed-money" on our next trip! Go for it!

The break down was...Driving costs (plus hotel down and back, and food on the road) $425; Hotel cost at WDW 2rms PC 3nights $360, prorated ticket cost $300, 3days meals at WDW $150 (bringing breakfast and snacks from home), One lunch at B&C $65, Kenneling dogs for 5 days $100 for a total of $1400. So, there really wasn't any extras figured in.....It definately was a super budget trip...

Now I'm looking at a few days in June at the Wilderness Cabins (I'll have to think this one over because the last time I stayed there I didn't enjoy it.) but I can't beat the rate. But then we'd have a kitchen so we could eat in the cabin instead at counter service....

thanks to everybody for there comments...

Yesterday, I started to plan my next trip.We are leaving next wednesday and returning sunday morning.:hyper: Yes it is a little bit  ,but, I need a quick getaway!! ::yes::

You are not alone!! Go have fun

We are doing a four night trip, we leave tomorrow. Our normal trips are at least a week, so this is a very short trip for us. This is all the time we have until school is out at the end of the year. My husband was diagnoised with cancer right after the holidays and he wanted to go to Disney before he starts his treatment. Needless to say this trip will be very different from our regular ones, but I am determined to forget our problems and have a good time. SO, yes I think a three day trip is definetly worth it. To me any trip to Disney no matter how long or short is worth it.

Go for it!!

Prayers to you and your family during this stressful time....It has been the stress of dealing with the on going cancer of my step mom that has been a catalist to me wanting to "get away" and slip in another trip...

I think you all should go so we can get another trip report. Think about how many games of Millionaire could be played in 3 days?

Yep, when I see your breakdown, you really were doing it pretty cheaply!

The only flaw I see here is that I can't imagine you'd really want to head back to the cabin every time you wanted a meal. I'd definitely plan one meal a day in the parks, whether it's sit down or counter service or whatever.

Why didn't you enjoy the cabins last time?

We are doing a short trip Easter Weekend staying at CS. We usually schedule short multiple trips so that I don't have to be away from my elderly Dad. But, Dad passed away Jan 18th so we kept the April 4 night trip reservations and are so ready to go to WDW for my birthday on April 10th.
Air $450
Rental Car $111
Apt Pkg $ 50
Gas $10
Tolls $ 6
Hotel(4 nts) $464
Food $300
Pins $200
Annual Pass whoopee
Estimate $1591

zurgswife, thank you so much for your kind words. And prayers to your family also. Yes cancer is very stressful and I think this trip is just what my family needs at this time. The kids are really stressed out about their father. We're hoping to, at least for a few days, put all bad thoughts out of our minds and think "fairy tales and pixie dust". I hope your family can do the same.

Pixie dust to both Disney Mim and Zurgswife -- dealing with serious illness is always tough

We did a 3 day trip in Feb. I've been calling it my extravagant birthday trip when I write about it. We had airfare from taking a bump on SW, so that helped. We just set our minds that we would do what we could -- did a carriage ride at POR, even went to US and IOA and rode all our favorites, had leftover breakfast vouchers, so ate at Breakfastosaurus, and Crystal Palace for our big meals, and managed to see and do most of our favorites. Of course we visit often, and we knew we'd be back for DH and DS15 April vacation. I think knowing it was a brief trip, and just to be away for a few days was really nice. It made a long cold winter go by easier.

:sunny: :sunny:

That made me smile....all the millionaire games I could play...

Why didn't you enjoy the cabins last time?

We felt we were really Hotel type people....but we have camped (in real tents..:teeth: ) a few times since then so, given the price is sooo cheap I'm figuring about $2000 for 5 days at WDW ...This would mean driving, eating most meals in the cabins...

The only flaw I see here is that I can't imagine you'd really want to head back to the cabin every time you wanted a meal.

We are usually heading back to our room by noon so eating lunch in our room isn't too bad...It would just be trying to arrange to go back for dinners....

We just did a 4 day trip in Dec. It was fun and I would do another short trip again. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'm debating the same thing right now! We have a "big" trip planned for the week after school gets out to celebrate DD's 14th birthday, and we're bringing her 3 friends, 2 other friends with their kids, and a band director(surprise trip for him!). We went from having over a week out of school during Easter to just having 3 days that could possibly be shortened to 2(all those snow days have to be made up!), so I was considering a short 3-day trip. The cost would be minimal:gas($140) and room cost--DH can't go because of work constraints--so we will either get 1 room at POR or 2 rooms at AS if available. We usually do pretty well on food cost by eating lunch out and dinner in(as in pizza, sandwiches,or fast food), and using a few Connections vouchers. But I keep thinking I should just forget it, and put that money towards extending our trip in June...Decisions, decisions...good luck making yours!

I was glad to see this thread because we are taking a 3 day trip the week after Easter this year and I was not sure about it. The reason is that my daughter's high school marching band will be performing at Epcot and we want to be there. Because our spring break falls the week after Easter, the band can't leave until the Monday after so we are stuck here in Illinois for the first 3 days of our vacation!

As it has turned out, we got a cheap rate at PC and we are ordering 3 day hoppers from Alamo and since DD1 will be with the band it is only me, DH and DD2 so all daily expenses will be less making it a pretty frugal trip. Hopefully this will mean money towards a bigger trip soon.

I figure we will see what we can see in the 3 days we have. I just hope I don't stress out trying to squeeze in too much. I can be that way sometimes. haha
