There's talk that AT&T may go on strike tomorrow. I believe it's over health benefits. If it happens then (non-union) subs will be called in. If it were you being called in would you go?

No way no how- I wouldn't cross a picket line and I would not be a scab!

My dh is management. It is either cross or be fired.

And yes it is over health benefits. Right now they do not pay anything except copays.

I don't know the specifics really, just know it's looming. Hope everything turns out ok for your husband.

My hubby works for AT&T and yup he would be crossing the picket line(even though they already decided not to strike). We pay a ton out of pocket for health insurance and basically carry the union workings. They are lucky to have jobs right now, which I think is why they decided to work and not strike.

Yes, I would. And I have belonged to a union for nurses;all it did for us was take our $$ and make sure the crappy workers got to keep jobs they should have long been let go from.
A job is a job-especially now. And if I had to feed my kids or keep a roof over my head-you bet I would.

He will be fine.

We are suspecting they are going to walk off the job in the middle of the day during Mon or Tue.

So if you have anything scheduled to be installed this week, change your dates.;)

When did they decide not to strike? Glad to hear that. I can't imagine striking in this economy.

Really where is your source? We haven't heard anything yet.

Honestly, it is a "smoke and mirrors" thing. The union knows that the people are going to have to fork up money for insurance.

They are using the people, really. It is baloney.

We suspect it is a way to get some union people fired.

Whatever, I think its crazy that they think they are entitled to free health benefits anyway. Let them walk.

Why is that? I think that that type of thinking is why most no longer have insurance paid for by employers. Everyone seems to think "I don't have it, why should they?" Why aren't they thinking " They have it, why shouldn't I?" and then fight for it....

It would depend on whether I agreed with the premise of the reason behind the strike. If I didn't think there was merit in the strike, I would cross.

Its like little kid mentality--- "I can't have it so neither should you na na na" all comes down to jealousy,
