Would you count off A&E at MK for May/June trip?

I apologize in advance if this has been asked countless times...

I'm trying to have a few FP plans lined up for a 6 n stay beginning May 30. Staying onsite so able to pick FP starting March 31. Hoping FP for Anna and Elsa M&G at Epcot will be available then (just like everyone else with young girls).

Should I go ahead and assume the MK M&G for Anna and Elsa will have moved over by then?

I guess it's all speculation currently.

Maybe I just like making posts to bug everyone. ;)

Honestly...it hasn't been that popular for awhile now. It will "booked up" and you'll see waits like you do all meet and greets...but nothing shockingly different.

Download the my Disney experience app (you'll want it later) if you have a smartphone...they have real time waits for the rides at the parks. If you Check it a few times - you can kinda see which rides fill up and approx what times.

May 30-June 6 isn't an incredibly busy time a year either...so you really should be ok.

Oh! Thank you!! A friend went around Christmas time, which I understand is very busy, and said that seeing them was a lost cause. Thanks for the relief. I haven't been to Disney myself in almost 10 years so all the awesome technology for planning is all new to me. :)

Hopefully moving to Epcot won't cause a sudden increase in wait time.

So you would say the hour, hour and half wait times predicted aren't accurate currently?

Oh no...that's a normal wait for characters...

You have to understand that those things move Incredibly slow. The silly autograph books and the Disney photographers slow the process down incredibly.

But I also don't think that you should have a problem getting the fast passes when they open up.

The other thing is that the frozen boat ride in Epcot may be open by then...that could draw off some people specifically for the Elsa meet and greet in magic kingdom.

I know the park predictor sites have been pretty successful...but ultimately they are just best guesses based on time of year. You really should be ok.

Glad to hear we're making it in June before the busy school's-out summer season starts! :D

Travel patterns have shifted greatly the last few years. I don't find any of the "traditional" summer times to be too bad anymore like they once were. Hot...but longer days and hours to offset some.

Also...many of the warmer areas of the country are out of school may 1...more northern areas - like my rust belt upbringing- in June 1...the crazy northeast - where I live now - not till almost July.

It's all "relative".

LOL Oh okay. I've never done the whole character thing before. This is the only one I consider a *must do* for DD, and perhaps Rapunzel unless we're lucky and she's at one of the princess ADR's (rare, I've read.)

Thanks for the head's up. Will definitely try for a FP.

I'm going to move this to the theme parks board
Oops, okay thank you! Only posted here because it was about A&E moving into Epcot.

Rteetz, I've enjoyed lurking your posts by the way. Was shocked you're 17. (Sorry to be creepy.)

No problem I think you'll get the best help if it's on the board.

Thanks for following along. Most people are a bit surprised.

I added it a full 30 days after our window opened. Granted, our trip is end of Feb/Mar so a less busy time but even so I think you will be fine.

There is a good window for Anna and Elsa, right around 10:30 AM if the park has opened at 9. The posted time was an hour and we waited about 30 minutes. It is easy to gauge the line, if people are waiting outside, you easily have an hour wait or more. If the line ends inside the building but right at the door, you are probably looking at around 45 minutes.
Posted times are often inaccurate for both that and 7DMT. You really see exaggerated times around parades and fireworks, like Disney wants you to know you are choosing the ride or the fireworks, that you can't do both. For 7DMT, if the line continues outside the queue, you really do have a 70+ minute wait. But, I've seen 70 minute wait times posted when the line was well within the queue area. I've waited 30 or so minutes in a line designated 70 minutes.

Thank you so much!

So, if you don't mind: do you think we should save the FP+ for a different choice and just head straight to Anna and Elsa after eating at CRT got ADR at 8:15 with a cute(edit: current not cute) park open at 9? Is it likely they will change hours to 8 am open on May 31?

Oh, that's assuming they're still at MK but it sounds like they're more likely to be at Epcot instead by those dates.

Ugh, Disney please release opening dates lol.

I would still make this a fastpass choice if it's a must do for your family. If the meet and greet shows up as available, I would get a fastpass. When we ropedrop the park, we usually manage to ride space mountain, thunder mountain and splash mountain before 10 in the morning because so much traffic is pulled to 7dmt and anna/elsa. If you can fast pass those two for middle of the afternoon when the lines are long for everything you can really get a lot done in the morning. Best strategy is still to fastpass, I would only wait the line if for some reason you miss getting a fastpass.

The dates for Anna & Elsa moving all the way to Epcot haven't been announced, and all opening dates for Frozen at Epcot are rumor. Disney has announced nothing.

It is unlikely they will cancel a load of M&G FP+ for Magic Kingdom on the fly, or switch them all to Epcot passes. That's an express ticket to mass fury. I suspect the switchover will come sometime AFTER the hard open of the ride, with at least 60 days notice for the switch of the M&G. If they don't, it's going to be really really bloody.

Very true! Thank you both!

So, if A&E are still listed as a FP+ option when our time opens on 3/31 then they must still be there, and I'll go for a late morning/early afternoon option. We're doing two MK days, one the day after we arrive and one the last day, so I'm pretty positive if I don't get it for our first visit, I should be able to get it for the last day visit.

:D

They're pretty much the only "must do" character M&G, but I've never done one before--ever. Only one previous visit for MK and I was like 13, 13 years ago. lol. My favorite princesses are Belle and Pocahontas but of course the birthday girl likes A&E like all of her peers.

If they show up as one of your options, book them, you have nothing to lose - but not a guarantee.

No one knows what will happen with the transition, I can't think of any other situation like this. NF CMs have been told they are leaving the MK and going to Epcot, and the plan is the ride and M&G will open together. In December they were being told May 21, but I would not be surprised if that was bumped ... again. (They were told Snow White and Aurora will return to FTH).

The question is how will Disney handle FP+? They have cancelled big deal FP+ for people before, so it could happen again. When they are sure about their opening date they might change the FP+ option at that point. I would be prepared to be flexible as you might have to scramble since you are traveling right in the midst of the potential move.

My hope is they will handle the new attractions like they did 7DMT. A media announcement with a specific opening date (it was less than 30 days) and opening up FP+ for the attractions that day. It at least gave us almost 30 days to figure it out.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Good to know, though. I do hope they give at least the 30 day notice, as you said.
