Hi all,

Would you consider this? My husband I are going on an adults only getaway next month for my birthday celebration. I see with Disney discount, I can pay $144 to change my resort from CSR GDT to OKW. So we far we stayed at the FQ and CSR and I stayed at CBR before. The parks we will be going to are MK and Epcot. What do you think? We have never stayed deluxe before so it’s a little tempting.

Thank you!

Never in a million years would I give up Grand Destino Towers for OKW !
Have you explored any of the new photos of this Tower. ?
The Grand Destino Tower rooms are fairly new . We stayed in them as the resorts were re- opening (Covid) and the Basketball Tournament had just departed.
This location has incredible lounge on Top Floor including exterior &interior seating . And a fantastic restaurant. Even the elevators are ultra modern .
They redesigned the Bridge and called it 3 Rivers Bridge so guests from all areas of huge resort can have a relaxing nice walkway day or night plus the bridge joins together to create an Open Air lounge / Bar / dining venue that Opens at 4:30 for walk-up seating. No advance dining reservations !
So many other wonderful things to make your celebration one to remember.
When did you previously stay / visit this Resort ?

Please tell me what you consider Deluxe about Old Key West ???

Thank you! The last time we stayed there was 2019. Also, I’ve never been to OKW, but I saw it was in the deluxe category lol.

Having stayed at both, I give the edge to GDT - nicer rooms, better dining, better transportation. But since you are going to MK and Epcot, would you want to take advantage of evening extra magic hours? It's a nice perk for people staying in deluxe resorts. I think it is still Monday for Epcot and Wednesday for MK, so I don't know how it fits with your plans. Evening extra magic hours at Epcot also give you another shot at the virtual queue for Guardians, but you could buy ILL for way less than the $144 cost to upgrade your hotel.

So from the other side. OKW has beautiful grounds and many rooms have great views all have a balcony and are considerably larger rooms. OKW is sort of in the middle going to both EPCOT and MK although if they could put a walkway over the water behind the resort to EPCOT it would be the closest resort. There is a nice boat ride to DS. Also home to Olivia’s which is one of the best hidden gems in Disney however the CS is very small and outdoor seating only. While Disney has been investing somewhat more on what is inside a tower…those towers are standard designs found at any Holiday inn. Even the new “Tower at the Poly” is being granted the loving name of Polyday inn. If you enjoy well kept grounds with lakes rivers a golf course and more then OKW is a great option. If you are a hallway dweller stick with GD.

Thank you. We actually don’t mind moving around outside like at FQ. Definitely not an easy decision!

Today I learned that OKW is considered deluxe. Stay with CSR GDT. OKW has larger rooms and more space but we did not like staying there with the layout of the resort. I would look to swan/dolphin as it’s more of a “deluxe” experience compared to OKW if you’re thinking about trying something new.

From anywhere else, I'd jump on OKW in a heartbeat. It's my favorite resort. But it depends on what you plan to do on this trip. I've spent quite a bit of time at the resort these past trips, rather than running in the Parks. OKW is a wonderful place to just be. It's rather spread out, but it IS walkable.
Transportation to the parks is bus, so the same as CSR. You do have boat to the Springs, which is a nice ride.
Haven't been down since GDT was built, but from all I read, it's well worth the visit. OKW underwent a complete renovation a few years ago, so it still looks pretty new-ish.
I like CSR as a resort, but IMO the dining leaves a bit to be desired. But that's not quality - just personal taste.

No way! Keep your tower. Really, no question!

I haven't stayed in the Tower but have stayed at CSR a number of times and have stayed at OKW. While technically it is in the deluxe category, think old fashioned beach condo. They are nice and very big and I enjoyed my time there but I was only there for two nights of a split stay before I moved to BW. It is pretty far away from everything, although they do have boats to DS if that is your thing. CSR is close to Epcot and HS, really just around the corner from Swan/Dolphin, BW, YC,BC.

CSR is sort of a deluxe lite. Personally, most of the time for what the Tower costs I can get into Swan/Dolphin, which is what I do. They are walking distance to two parks, so many food options, rooms are bigger than the moderate and maybe bigger than the deluxe. Now, with the discount that might not be the case but you might want to check it out.
