Would you consider this line cutting?

It isn't about fault and consequences, just a matter that different traveling styles have different positives and negatives. As a single I could make wicked good time! I could stop and do what I want, and had some really sweet perks when it came to time to stop and chat with people.

As a group, I have a fp runner (we don't go into lines without them) and I have plenty of people to help get the baby started eating, etc. Technically, I suppose, we shouldn't feed the baby the cheerios at the table according to the logic here. Especially not it they are served before the official meal is brought out. Too many rules.

No one would want to join our crew, but if they did they would be welcome. We don't all ride with the ecv, although we did ride with my son, in a wheelchair, before he passed. I was a younger mom then. And he was special. Sue me for thinking so. My olders don't take seats needed by mom's with babes or the elderly. I look healthy, but have health issues that affect my balance, so I wait for a bus with a seat. It is a matter of taking care of myself and my needs.

All that to say that rude and polite are in the eyes of the beholder. Most people are just trying to get by. What one person sees at rude, another finds it not to be. I could care less if people cut in front to join their families. For others it is a vacation ruiner. It is all subjective.

Well don't know how the thread got OT but we always get a table first. DD has food allergies and takes twice as long to eat as the rest of us because of food texture issues. At CS she will always be having something we brought sometimes with an addition from the CS place. She will be the first one eating and we will still have to wait for her to finish because she will be the last one eating especially if we order her some food. Crowds are also an issue for her so making her stand in a line that can be avoided it just silly. I know mine is not a typical situation but I just wanted to point out sometimes there is a reason not to send everyone up in line and getting a table first.

We also tend to eat at off times so I have never been in a CS that did not have lots of open tables. Even during free dining.

First come, first serve." Here is my answer to people that have that mentality, you are inconsiderate ****s. And yup I have no problem enjoying an empty seat that NO ONE is sitting and eating in.

That is such a rude generalization! It seems that no matter what, anyone that does not do what you feel is appropriate is an a** :sad2: Really pepole can't go through life always worrying about what other people want, and/or need, or think is acceptable. Many people will think that you are a rude a** for plunking yourself down at their table without even a polite 'Do you mind if I sit here?' I think that we should all try for common curtesy, but you can't live like you are always 'walking on egg shells' because someone might think what you are doing is rude...

Go at a less busy time if it is such a big deal to you. And yes this may be inconvient for you, but what can I say. Sounds like your panties will get in a bunch regardless... If a person has a special needs child and has to sit down as their spouse or what ever will be a few minutes with their food to get that child or any child for that matter ready to eat you will have to get over it. Everyone has different needs. If someone wants to sit in a seat for 10 mins before even getting in the food line, what can you do ? Why let it bother you so much that it put you in a bad mood and put a glich in your day...... your on vacation, why not enjoy??

I don't think that you can eat in the time that it would take me walk with my food and collect a few things from the topping bar... I would prefer not to sit in your lap :lmao:

This is beautifully put.

Parties of 2 absolutely DO have the same opportunity...send 1 in line, the other to grab napkins, etc and a table.

A parent alone with a young child made the choice to go alone...and tables for 2 aren't hard to find anyway.
Respectfully, tables for two in a counter service location ARE hard to find. When they may exist, they've been usurped by larger groups and pulled closer to a four-top to accommodate them - but I rarely recall seeing two-tops - otherwise I'd have sat at them, given the rarity of small groups in CS locations. Or maybe there just haven't been any clean ones?

Great, a parent with a young child or children made the decision - for whatever reason - to go without another adult. And I find it very interesting how you completely ignored the solo travelers. Saving a table, especially where the lines for food are twenty minutes long or more, deprives all these other Guests - who HAVE their food - of a place to sit and eat.

Could you please explain, again, how it's reasonable for a group to walk into a counter service restaurant and occupy a table while one person in their party gets into the twenty minute line, while Guests who just finally got their food and exited the line are forced to wander around with trays of food, unable to find a table at which to eat?

LOL, I'm just playing devil's advocate here because I have never heard of someone complaining about someone grabbing a table and getting ready while someone else grabs the food LOL.

Really, it's Disney, go enjoy yourself and quit worrying or keeping score about table keeping, how long someone has been sitting there, etc. :wizard: I've gone with my grandma (nearly 90) and she DID go sit down at a table while we went to get food. It was hot, she needed to be out of the heat and sitting, and well, we were about to eat. It doesn't bother me one bit if someone thinks that inconsiderate. Maybe because she's elderly that's ok?

We moved to HI from FL so we used to go all the time (We are DVC at BLT and SSR) so I've gone when it's busy and when it's not and it never struck me to care that someone was sitting at a table waiting for the rest of their party to bring their food. If we all went thru the line together and couldn't find a seat, we normally just wait until a table opens or go outside and find a seat. Wouldn't have occured to me to be mad at the "bad" people sitting at tables not actively eating.

And like I said, I've taken my kids lots of times alone (starting when my middle one was a small baby, so I had a 2 yr old and baby) and I have never been upset about not having somewhere to sit because someone else is sitting there LOL. I just took the kids to eat during offtimes to avoid the crowds.

:thumbsup2: : Seriously before this thread it never would of occurred to me either that people get upset about sitting down at tables, actually before the disboards, I never thought that getting up for a pregnant or elderly person on a bus was a problem either. I really hope its just a small subset of disboard people that seem to have these issues :rotfl: .

I've gone with my mom who has COPD and asthma. When its hot, muggy, she needs to sit down and I go and get her a cold drink.

Unfortunately, if people don't like to deal with crowds, and other people (with all their quirks) bother them they really need to find another vacation spot. WDW is just not the place to expect everyone to conform to your ideal picture perfect environment. I myself love to people watch..I get a real kick out of all behavior..good and bad... So its all entertainment to me popcorn::

First off I wanted to let everyone know that in my previous post I did NOT use a swear word but it starred it out anyhow. I don't mind crowds in general and they are to normally be expected at WDW. I guess what gets my "panties in a bunch" is when people assume that everyone has the same ability to get a table on a peak season day when its crowded. I personally don't normally go to QS and when I have it has been at off times so it isn't crowded. But yeah, I would be frustrated by people who (during the busiest times of the year and times of day) would sit down without regard for the whole situation. Single people can't send someone to get a spot for them and it does get frustrating when you are searching for 10 or more mins. and your food gets cold. Sure, I suppose they could sit on the curb and try to balance the tray on their knees and eat, but that is pretty harsh. I get that some people can't stand in line because of medical conditions, but what made me annoyed was the response on the board. The resounding posts with the attitudes that its a hassle to have them and their kids wait in line for their food or wait off to the side until they have their food, no matter how busy it is. Also to the person who made the comment that the single people get perks because they don't have to deal with kids, if you didn't want to deal with the kids at WDW then you shouldn't bring them, however there aren't too many perks especially when you've been waiting in a line to see your favorite character only to be trampled by a bunch of kids that don't want to wait in line. Response that seems to be given for that is that WDW is for kids and that it isn't as magical to an adult so the single person/adult should get use to it. Not too cool.

well, then I guess if you want someone to hold you a seat you should bring one. lol. If you don't choose to, it isn't my problem. Just like I shouldn't bring my kids if they cause other hassles. Your logic. There are positives and negatives. No one is a victim.

Lol, and I have never seen anyone trampled to see a character. That is what the cm escorts are there for. Again, I have a hard time seeing anyone as a victim.

LOL, gosh, we do that, is that bad too?

I hope not, my DD is our official FP runner!! She is a quick little thing, she can get the fast passes and still be waiting for us old people to catch up to her to get into line!!!

I think that the only issue that people have is when everyone else in the family gets in line at the next attraction and then the runner passes everyone who has since gotten in line to join back up with their family.

But I could be wrong - I've lost track of who is annoyed by what.

That is not what causes the problems with Fast Pass runners. What causes the problem is when the rest of the family gets in line, and then the Fast Pass runner shoves past them in line to meet the rest of the family.

LOL me too. I might need to make a list for the next time we go!

I've never done that...we've never cut back in line though.

You know, that isn't even the tiniest bit funny and i can't for the life of me imagine what in the world would have possessed a reasonable person to think it's even close to a 'solution'; there may be dozens of reasons why someone would visit Walt Disney World alone.

But you're missing the point. Nobody SHOULD be holding seats. If you want a seat/table at which to eat your food the instant it is ready for consumption, YOU should be dining at a venue designed for that purpose: a TABLE SERVICE restaurant.

Uh, are you sure? I thought the character escorts were there to assist/protect the characters, not to control the behavior of the Guests while they wait in line?

hmm, is it ok if they are polite, apologetic and don't push past..and they had to make a bathroom stop? ;)

For the record I don't care if FP runners catch up to their family or parent and child have to make a pit stop before entering the line or even after.

It wouldn't never have occured to me to do so. We do use FP runners - generally when someone doesn't want to do a ride (for example, a friend hates TOT, so she went to get FPs for TSMM while the rest of us rode TOT) or people need to use the washroom (and the runner doesn't - we all meet at the entrance to the line of the next ride).

Lol, was it funny when pixiegirl said I shouldn't bring kids if I don't want to deal with the negatives involved? Turn about is fair play.
P

As for the rest of your opinion, well you have every right to it. Don't save seats if it bothers you. I personally will continue traveling off seasn when I can and it isn't an issue.

If any adults trip is ruined because kids are excited to see the characters, well, I am not going there. Rampaging children are so scary!! :rotfl:
