It isn't about fault and consequences, just a matter that different traveling styles have different positives and negatives. As a single I could make wicked good time! I could stop and do what I want, and had some really sweet perks when it came to time to stop and chat with people.
As a group, I have a fp runner (we don't go into lines without them) and I have plenty of people to help get the baby started eating, etc. Technically, I suppose, we shouldn't feed the baby the cheerios at the table according to the logic here. Especially not it they are served before the official meal is brought out. Too many rules.
No one would want to join our crew, but if they did they would be welcome. We don't all ride with the ecv, although we did ride with my son, in a wheelchair, before he passed. I was a younger mom then. And he was special. Sue me for thinking so. My olders don't take seats needed by mom's with babes or the elderly. I look healthy, but have health issues that affect my balance, so I wait for a bus with a seat. It is a matter of taking care of myself and my needs.
All that to say that rude and polite are in the eyes of the beholder. Most people are just trying to get by. What one person sees at rude, another finds it not to be. I could care less if people cut in front to join their families. For others it is a vacation ruiner. It is all subjective.

Really pepole can't go through life always worrying about what other people want, and/or need, or think is acceptable. Many people will think that you are a rude a** for plunking yourself down at their table without even a polite 'Do you mind if I sit here?' I think that we should all try for common curtesy, but you can't live like you are always 'walking on egg shells' because someone might think what you are doing is rude...
I would prefer not to sit in your lap
I've gone with my grandma (nearly 90) and she DID go sit down at a table while we went to get food. It was hot, she needed to be out of the heat and sitting, and well, we were about to eat. It doesn't bother me one bit if someone thinks that inconsiderate. Maybe because she's elderly that's ok?
