I often see post after post on social media about "how do you afford WDW" or "budget WDW" and let's not forget "Disney has priced the average family out of a trip". So my question is "do you consider a Disney trip a luxury?" I think I do. It's a major resort, many amenities, 4 parks, water parks and each resort has it's own vibe. So is it a fancy trip?

Very much so. I posted recently how cheap I thought Disney was compared to prior estimations, but it's still a lot. It does stack up - flights, hotels, park tickets, food, insurance...

I think it really depends on things like your personal income/finances, how you normally choose to use any disposable income, what other kinds of travel you've experienced, and of course...not all Disney vacations are created equally.

For example, someone with a lower level of disposable income may consider a week at a value with single park tickets and all counter service meals a real luxury. Someone with a higher income might see that same trip as a budget vacation and maybe even a means to work in more travel over the course of a year. In the same vein, you could compare someone staying at the GF for a week that has spared no expense. It could be a once in a lifetime bucket list trip for family A and an average vacation for family B.

I think it depends on how you contextualize "luxury". Personally, I would call almost any expense above and beyond what is required for a basic, fulfilling life to be a (noun) luxury. That is to say that I do believe some degree of entertainment fits into the necessity category because entertainment is a necessity for a fulfilling life, but a Disney vacation is far beyond what is required.

As to whether or not a Disney vacation is (adjective) luxurious, I'd say no. While some elements of it can fall into that category--fine dining, spa visits, etc.--Disney operates precisely 0 luxury hotels and I think that the overall experience and service level falls far below the threshold of what I would consider to be a true luxury vacation.

Depends on your financial situation. One of those things difficult to generalize. I also think most people do not decide where to vacation based on what they read others posting on some social media site..................LOL.

It's all relative. It is a luxury price, but not a luxury vacation IMHO.

I would consider WDW a luxury vacation if I flew first class, had a Minnie Van to/from the airport, stayed in a huge suite with club level access, had a VIP tour guide each day, used MInnie Van when VIP tour guide's day was finished, and ate at the finest restaurants (like V&A). That, to me, is luxury.
