We have two dining credits left on our 10 day WDW trip and are trying to decide on the best way to use them-

Traveling will be Me, DH, DS (5)and DD (2)- we are going in February and I am turning 30 on the trip :)

This will be our second time as a family to disney- we have done Chef Mickey's in the past for breakfast and enjoyed the characters- thought the food was decent at best. We have never done a signature so nothing to compare it to. During this trip we are also dining at Tusker Breakfast, Crystal Palace and Garden Grill so character dining isn't a necessity (but we do enjoy it). Food quality and service IS important to us.

We can use the 2 credits on Dinner at Cali Grill on our MK day (then view the fireworks from contemporary)

or

Use the 2 credits on breakfast at Chef Mickeys and late dinner at Whispering Canyon (already been to Ohana- not big fans, already going to the Wave during the trip, thought about Kona instead of WCC)

also open to other suggestions!

Kona is great! The food and the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is great too. It's one of my favorite restaurants in WDW. WCC is really fun for kids and the food is soo good. :) So either one would work. The Chef Mickey's/Kona or WCC idea would probably be better for your kids, because one is a character meal and the other two are kid-friendly all the way. Cali Grill is wonderful, but more upscale. There will be plenty of options for your kids, but the atmosphere might not be as appealing to them. HOWEVER, you can see Magic Kingdom from many of the tables, so if you got a later ressie you could watch Wishes right from your dinner table. It's really magical. And definitely worth the 2 TS credits. So whatever you decide, you and your family are sure to have a great time and a great meal. Both are great ideas! :) What I would do is present the idea of a character meal with Mickey and another fun meal or watching the fireworks from the top of CR to your DH and kids. Then take a vote and see what they decide. JMO.

Happy planning! :)

I vote for Cali Grill. CM is good for breakfast. WCC is ok, but the server interactions/ entertainment have decreased and the food is just average. Kona is excellent. But, we did DxDP last visit, with a TS breakfast and Signature Dining and it was just way too much food. And, I am a big eater.

I can get a 5:30pm or 7:25om ADR for California Grill (wishes at 8pm) So I assume the 7:25pm would be best

I am nervous that dining with the kids would ruin the experience- not that they are crazy in restaurants or anything- it just seems like such a romantic spot-a place that would be nice to share with just hubby- but then again- realistically it would be many many years before hubby and I could dine there without the kids.

Not sure why I am having such a hard time deciding on this one.

:thumbsup2 I can assure you that there will be many other diners there with children and that the Cali Grill is very nosiy to be the type of restaurant that it is. You can do the 5:30, save your receipt and go back up to the viewing station by showing them your receipt later--if that is helpful. The staff is very used to having people leave the table for viewing. I say do Cali Grill and have fun!!. It will be special for your birthday.

I would love to do Coral Reef- We have 2 epcot days scheduled and are eating dinner at Garden Grill and Le Cellier- unfortunately we don't have hoppers so we need to stay in or around MK

I'd pick the time you would prefer to eat. As previous post responded, keep your receipt and return if you choose the first time. As for being nervous, you are at Disney World. Outside of a few places (V&A, Bluezoo) the restaurants accept diners with children and people at Disney should expect children to be at those restaurants. Relax and have fun.
