the actual bday is the following week? Our kids bdays are 1 day apart (4th & 5th of December) We will be in Disney the 27th & 28th of November.

Would you celebrate in Disney? I realize they do not qualify for the free day, just debating on I should order a cake. This will also be their first time to Disney.

For some reason I feel hesitant... not sure why

I say go for it and order the cake. We only get to celebrate DS's birthday on his actual birthdate every 4 years (leap day birthday). In my opinion, it's not important what date you celebrate on, but that you do celebrate :goodvibes

I think it's fine. We will be there the same time and we will have a dinner to celebrate my dh b-day. His b-day is Dec. 7. I wouldn't feel hesitant, we never have the kids' b-day parties on there actual b-day, it;s always on a weekend. Enjoy.:thumbsup2

Sure!
I had my DS's Bday party at home nearly a week after his birthday. What's the difference?

Have fun!!!!

We are celebrating my daughters birthday in Disney around 2 weeks after her birthday. We could not get off work on her actual birthday. We we made all the reservations they said it was fine and couldn't wait to help her celebrate.

I would...we usually do. My DD has celebrate 3 of her 5 birthdays at WDW. They were all within a week of her actual birthday but it has been hard to get there on her actual birthday. This year she is turning 6 and we are celebrating it on a Disney Cruise...our first cruise ever. We booked it for our 10 anniversary but since it is a few days after her actual birthday we are just going to celebrate it down there. (Her b-day is Monday and our Cruise is Thursday.) The cruise staff are very helpful and have already set up to have a cake delivered right after dinner on Thursday. Can't wait to see the look on her face. Don't think that she is expecting it since every other time we have done it she was with the Princesses.

I would definately celebrate it when ever you are able to go. When we go in Feb we will be celebrating my DH's 40th b-day. His b-day is really Jan 30th but we are celebrating it during our trip Feb 6th-13th.

Not sure why I felt hesitant... left a message today for Pat at Grand Floridian to order a cake... 14 days left... cannot wait.

Yes! My youngest son's birthday is on Christmas day. We always celebrate early. My oldest son's birthday is Dec 12. We never celebrate on the exact day. We pick one day in December to celebrate both. :thumbsup2 It doesn't matter what the exact day is, you can celebrate any day.

I definitely would - back in 2005 we went in November and celebrated my middle DD's birthday a week early while we were there.

We are!!! We leave tuesday and are having a cake for him at Chef Mickeys and he wont turn 2 till Dec. But we will be in the middle of a PCS when his birthday rolls around, and wont have a house yet or anything.

We will be there 12-3-6 and are calling it a birthday trip for my 2 girls.
#1 was born 12-14 and #2 was born 1-3.
#1 will be 5yo- its the whole reason we are making the trip

My birthday will be 3 days after our trip next year. I hadn't even thought about it. :woohoo: Maybe I should schedule some 'birthday magic' for myself. :thumbsup2 Or, maybe drop some *subtle* hints to DW about it.

I am glad you decided to do it:thumbsup2 DS will be celebrating his 11th birthday about 2 weesk early because he would like to celebrate on board the Disney Magic. Both of my children have birthdays Christmas week. We usually have our family celebration on the actual day (but are happy to move it this year so he can celebrate on the ship) but we have never been able to have friends for party on their actual dates--everyone has family obligations Christmas week.

We will be. We will be in WDW from 11/28 - 12/6 - my dd's 6th birthday is 12/9. We will be celebrating her birthday mid-trip exactly 1 week before her birthday on 12/2. My oldest dd is taking her to BBB, we have dinner planned at CRT and we will be having her birthday gifts delivered while we are at dinner.

I'm glad I found this thread.

It is a MAYBE, possibility that I will be going to Wilderness Lodge the week of November 22-27th with my parents. DS's 5th birthday is December 24th. I was hoping to at least get him a birthday button and let him celebrate at Disney that week. Is a month too far away? We can't get to Disney on Christmas, but I thought it would be close enough.

Any thoughts???

We're going to celebrate our triplets' 13th in Disney. They were born on Christmas Eve but we'll celebrate the week before. We have reservations at Chef Mickey and at Boma - which should we call "the birthday"? Also, which cake would people recommend for 13 year olds? Thanks! :dance3:

See, a week away is great, I think! I'd definitely go with Chef Mickey's for their birthday meal. But that's just me. I'm not sure which cake would be a good choice, however.

So, what do you guys think about the birthday being a MONTH away? Too long to celebrate? I just know that with DS being born on Christmas, I could never get to Disney on his actual birthday or anywhere that close to it.
