Would you cancel?

My family is taking a long road trip from California to Florida for our Disney World trip. We’re supposed to leave on Thursday to arrive in Orlando on Sunday. We are very concerned about the weather and road conditions with this huge winter storm on the news, so we are seriously considering canceling our trip. I’m doubtful the road conditions will be much better, but maybe those in the area of the storm are better informed. What would you all do?

Just looked at the weather, looks like you will be fine by Thursday and if your traveling on interstates, those are always cleared first. Maybe allow a few more hours travel time to be safe. We always drive to where ever we travel to. I think it makes it that much more fun!

Wow. That is a real Road Trip! Are you driving I-10? Should not be a problem. Just take a look at temps along the way. Here in Texas the word is clearing after Wednesday.

You don't mention which way you are going across country. In general though, I would not cancel. I agree with PP, Interstates are cleared, they need them for transport as quick as possible. Plus, the further south you are going, the warmer it's going to be. I know we are cold and snowy today and really cold tomorrow but then warming up and everything will melt within 24 hours. By Thursday, I'd say you'll be fine

Yes, I-10. Good to hear it’s being cleared out. Just afraid the weather will change again. It’s been a pretty harsh and unpredictable winter.

I think I'd risk it. If you hit some especially bad weather your could always take a detour or stop for a night.

Looks good for you!

Thursday Tucson - Sunny and 75°
Friday San Antonio - Cloudy 20% rain chance and 54°
Saturday New Orleans - Sunny and 63°
Sunday Orlando - Partly cloudy and 73°

Yes, we are about to get a couple of days of cold/freezing weather in central FL, but it is supposed to warm up by this weekend. To get two significant cold fronts in central FL in the same season, seems like a fluke.

I wouldn't even think of cancelling.

Some parts of I-10 are still closed here in Louisiana but it’s supposed to start warming up tomorrow. I wouldn’t cancel. Safe travels!
