Would you cancel CRT?

It was originally our family of DH, DDs (2&4), myself + MIL & FIL. Mil & Fil asked to add Nephew fine however, no room to confirm him at CRT, will just try for standby.

Do boys (age 4 ½) enjoy themselves at CRT?

I bought my DDs princess dresses, what can Nephew wear ~ we leave Friday?
Although not a huge problem as DD 4 won’t even wear her Belle dress, “it hurts & is too hard”, we are currently working on softening it’s stiffness. Any Help/Ideas? Do all little girls wear dresses?

I really don’t think girls would miss it, we are also doing Chef Mickeys, however I know I’ll miss it, & Grandparents live 10hrs away & we don’t get to see as often as we’d like, also only come along to Disney every 3 yrs. thus I always try to share as many moments as possible.

Please Help ~ What would you do?

I would not skip it. I would suggest to MIL and FIL that since they are the ones trying to change your plans at the last minute, they should be the ones to come up with Plan B. Maybe FIL and nephew could go do something else fun together while the girls (and your DH) are at CRT.

Whne my DD and I went to CRT this past February my DH and DS headed off into the Kindgom and had a grand ole time. They went to the Hall of Presidents, leasurely strolled through some of the stores etc in the vicinity of the castle and really had a great time. (Some male bonding, they said). That's just a suggestion should you have a problem getting your nephew in. I have seen young boys at CRT but its really the girls that get excited.

As for the Belle Dress.....some of the fabric softner companies make spray softners (with wrinkle releasers, etc.) You should try that on the dress (test spraying the inside to see if it stains first). I've even washed my DS's Cinderella dress on gentle cycle in cold water with just fabric softner and hung it to dry. It made an improvement, not a vast one but any improvement was better than hearing her say how itchy the dress was.

I wouldn't worry about what your nephew needs to wear. Most kids don't wear anything dress-up. I think at our breakfast we saw 2-3 girls with dresses, otherwise everyone just has on their short outfits they will wear all day. I also saw many boys there too and most people seemed to have fun.

I would keep my ressie and honestly, have your MIL and FIL or just one try and get in with the nephew (you can always ask at the podium) and if not, let one take him on some rides and the other one sit at breakfast with you.

I have a few ideas . . .

Don't skip CRT. Chef Mickey's is no substitute for a little girl. Let them feel like real princesses dining in the castle - way too magical and hard to get to cancel this one. Only a handful will be in dresses. My dd did that when she went, but most kids were in whatever they were wearing all day. The nephew would enjoy CRT, but how about seeing if any space is still available on the pirate cruise going out of the GF? My boys loved that and would pick that over CRT. The in-laws could also take him to Crystal Palace, O'Hana, or Whispering Canyon. WC isn't a character meal, but the servers are cowboys and cowgirls, and it's very interactive with stick horses and other antics. If you try to get him into CRT (grandpa could bow out and let grandma take him) then how about a Capt. Hook costume? They're readily available in the MK if you can't get one before leaving.

You can make him a really quick knight's tabard out of a pillow case. Slit the top and sides for head and arms. Cut a piece of felt or ohhh...that fuzzy stuff...can't think of the FLEECE!! that's it! for a sash. Find an iron on fleur de lis or cool emblem, and Voila! A knight or prince. DS dressed up as a prince and got lots of attention. More than DD! But if your girls don't have their hearts set on CRT, it's really expensive.
