Would you buy at the GFV?

YES! We love the gf. Stayed there for our wedding and got married in the wp, so we'd love a wp view :lovestruc

We would probably buy a smallish contract to do a stay there every other year or so with 11 mo booking and keep what we already have at Blt.

I would not purchase there. The prices have gotten to high as far as I am concerned. I will just use what I have now.

Way too snobby for me.

Much rather buy at a Poly DVC - but I doubt that will happen if this happens based on available space remaining, unless they renovate one or two building and convert over to a DVC. Of course by then the price will probably be $175. :scared1:

Of course the one other concern I would have is the quality of the rooms, after hearing so many people complain about BLT accomodations.

Perhaps. My DH & stayed in a studio (LV) last August. We were originally supposed to stay in a studio at OKW but there was a plumbing problem with our room so they moved us to BLT. We were delighted and were happy because we felt we would never use our points to stay there. We had a wonderful view and did like the location but what we didn't like was having to go to the Contemporary for everything. We also felt the balconies are not safe for children and have already told our DD that we will not take our grandchildren there any time soon. So, back on topic, if a GF DVC was offered it would depend on what it looked like, etc. If it was a high-rise designed like BLT, then no.

no I would not buy at GFV if it comes about. The pts for BLT are to high and the pts at GFV will be higher. we own at BWV and just added on there again. Now if GFV has some standard and value and under valued rooms :cool1: maybe we will try it

Nope, never been a fan of the resort. Poly to me would be my next DVC buy if they build there or another BLT tower.

We'd be all in! I took my wife there last year for her b-day..first time for her in WDW. It left quite the impression :rolleyes1. Probably only add 50 points or so to start, but I'm sure we be buying:eek:

I'm not sure. When and if we decide to add on most likely we would go with more AKV points so we could book all at the same resort for the 11 month window. That is unless we have money to blow for a second trip yearly then we would purchase enough for at least a week stay at one of the other DVCs.

We wouldn't buy at Grand Floridian. The style is just a little too formal for our style, but to each their own. It certainly is a lovely hotel. However, we would have to very seriously consider adding on points if/when Polynesian opens up. My DH and I went to the Poly on our honeymoon and although we love our home at the BWV, would love to stay at the Poly again.

The GF is behind only the BWV/BWI for us, so we would seriously consider adding on if a DVC was built there. The GF really WOWed us in every one of a few stays there -both the GF and the BWV/BWI have exceeded our expectations - something we can't say about other resorts (not that the others are bad, we just don't consider them exceptional).. We would probably get rid of our BCV points to get a decent amount (100+) at a GF DVC.
BLT holds little interest for us.

Probably. But it will depend on the cost. We may even sell our BLT to buy there. We love GF.

YES YES YES!!! :thumbsup2

We have talked about buying at BLT because we love the idea of being on a monorail resort, but we *hate* the BLT decor. It reminds us of just any other hotel (like a W or something) and doesn't have that magical Disney atmosphere that so many of the other Disney resorts have. We were willing to throw in the towel and just go with BLT because of the great location, but if GF is on the horizon, we will be holding out and buying there! Wooohooo!! :cool1:

And also, I don't get the snooty comments about GF at all. It's in the same price range as Poly and CR whenever I look for rooms, so I don't think the people staying are actually any different, no? It seems like maybe it's just a perception thing (eg. people don't like the GF decor and are associating it with something in their minds). Honestly, when we were there for our honeymoon, we were in shorts and flip flops the whole time and there were children running around the same as any other resort. We are not formal or rich and we plan on being those same folks with kids in flip flops at the GF in the future! :rotfl:

I have to disagree about the "magical Disney atmosphere" part. (imho.) I have never seen artwork in ANY WDW resort that I (and other's that I've read) would love to be able to buy for my home.

But to be fair, if you don't like modern/contemporary decor, you'll obviously dislike BLT.

I agree with this. There are snooty people that stay at every resort. Although, I associate the GF decor with the grand victorian design. It's not for me, like BLT isn't for others.

No..I love my VGC and have all the points I need. When I make it back to WDW I'll pick Beach Club first, then Grand Floridian second.

DH and I were talking about this last night. Here is what we think:

We think the points for a studio at GF would be about 220 for a week, during the first part of June. That would NOT be a concierge studio, but I do think there will be a fair number of concierge villas incorporated.

I expect points to be $150 or higher.

Obviously people who are looking to have home resort advantage will need a decent amount of points if (for example) a studio is 30 pts. per night during the week and 35 on weekends. A 50 pt. add on isn't going to go very far.

I think this property may be targeting a new demographic. People who have avoided DVC in the past may finally take the plunge with GF. Location, different amenities (if there are a couple of floors of concierge villas), etc. may be the tipping point for some folks.

I can't imagine we would add on at GF. Would I maybe waitlist for something at the 7 month mark? Possibly. But really, it would depend largely on how many points we are talking about. We love, love, love AKV which is why we have all of our points there. It would be hard for me to give up more nights at AKV compared to fewer nights at GF.

Heh heh...I agree, I have never seen any artwork at a WDW resort that I would ever hang in my house! :rotfl: But I think for me, what constitutes a magical atmosphere is the sheer fantasy (and, frankly, over the top nature!) of it all. I can recognize that GF is quite tacky and I wouldn't decorate my house that way, but I like being transported to a different "realm" so to speak. And I can recognize that BLT/CR is probably more in line with my normal taste, but I think that's why I find it kind of dull and not "magical" enough for my Disney vacations. I guess that's how Disney profits from us all - we're all looking for different things in our vacations! :thumbsup2

We really do like the atmosphere of the GF, and usually dine there at least once per trip. But I have a feeling the point cost and points per night are both going to be astronomical. Once the point costs reached over $100, it sort of squelched our desire to do add-ons, even though we've been sorely tempted by Aulani. In this economy, it just doesn't make sense to spend that much on something that will depreciate.

I would have to consider it, as of now my answer would be no however I would agree with the previous post that it would probably be sold out prior to it even being opened. I bought both BW and BLT before they were opened I think I was afraid I'd miss out and theres always a Market for someone.:scared1:
