I am not a soda or coffee drinker.
I like water - especially while on vacation.

Should I buy a resort mug as a souvenir?
Would you?

I would buy it as a souvenir, but only if it was different than the mugs I already have at home.

No CSR mug - only Dolphin, WL & Contemporary (oldies)
Love our WL mug :)

Way cuter mugs exist than the refillable ones. I'd rather spend $15 on a better mug if I only drank water.

If I only drank water - probably not. There are far to many other things I could find in the World to spend my money on.
That being said we AlWAYS buy the mug - We use it every morning for coffee and several times a day for drinks - the bonus is that we get a souvenir to take home.

Agree with this. There are a lot of travel mugs in the parks, for less than 1/2 the price. We got a really cute one at a coke stand in HS that is WAY cuter than the resort ones. If anyone else drinks soft drinks, they are usually filled with something when you buy them, but I assume they would gladly sell you just the mug.

I agree!

I'd rather spend $ on a real mug than the refillable one. Esp if youre only drinking water. I always bring my own canister from home and refill it with water. I even put crushed ice inside. Its awesome.

I love collecting the different resort mugs, so I would buy it as a souvenir.

Our mugs are usually our favorite souvenirs that we bring home. So even if we didn't get them free from the DP, and wouldn't use them much while we are there (which we really don't), we'd still want some to bring home. Though like some others have mentioned, if you are paying for it anyway and don't need the refillable option, there are probably even better ones you can get in the parks.

Do you drink tea or ice tea that you could get in the refillable mug?

I was going to say this. I've got a few cute ones from there. I think they are about $4.95.

The mugs are cheap-looking and don't even say WDW. You could buy a nicer souvenir glass or mug in any of the gift shops.

Not a big fan of the refillable mugs, but I have read if you take them to the parks you can have them filled with ice/water (only) at snack stands, quick service, etc. instead of buying bottled water. Don't know the truth of this...or if it has to be a refillable mug or any cup would do. (Disclaimer: read it here on the Dis!). Of course, this would only benefit you if you plan to drink WDW "tap" water instead of bottled water, then it could save some $.

You don't have to provide a cup for free water. They will give you a cup of ice water at many restaurants & snack stands.

Why not?

It's a souvenir, they do not need to be usefull only on holiday.
(or at all really) You can still use it at home too.

And it's not as if it'l break the bank just for the mug. We have a budget roughly and if it fits and we like it we get it. We'll worry about the rest later :)

Don't they come with dining plans? It can you decline the mugs and save some money?

Yes, they do. And no, you can't. (Well, you can decline them, but they aren't going to give you a rebate.)

Only if it were a resort specific mug like they offered in the "good ole days" I still have a few like that. (WL,AKL, POR)

They are really expensive and cheaply made. If you LOVE the design then maybe. But I think you will find a lot of nicer, better quality ones in the gift shops.
