Im planning on buying a PS2 for DS and a DVD player for DH. Blockbuster has their deal now - buy $50 gift card, get $5 gift card -thought that if I buy (4) $50s I would get (4) $5s -this could be put towards the tax.
Havent seen the PS2 on sale anywhere and I want to feel like Im getting some type of deal.
What do I do? Buy the gift cards, get out of line and go get the PS2?

My DH wanted the Dvd player but when I looked up the model # people said it wasn't worth the money!...He was bummed because it was such a good deal but better to find out before.

I can't help with the Ps...we just got the Box...(I really don't know the difference! LOL

good luck...I'm sure everyone will be happy in your home witht he fun toys!

Our treasured family member, (our dvd player) has finally just bit the dust. Chris (my bf) works at Blockbuster so we're going to get our new one from there. He says it's a really good deal and a good brand. Since I dont know much about electronics I assume he knows what he's talking about!! ;)

Dunno about PS2, but DVD players are getting really inexpensive. Have you checked Best Buy or Circuit City? There's a thread on the Dis that Wal-mart is going to have a DVD player for under $50 the day after Thanksgiving(not a top notch one, but if budget is the priority...)

We just bought our son a ps2 at Best Buy. It was on sale for $199, but I have no idea if that was a good deal or not.

Friends of ours bought thier DVD player from Blockbuster.. it came with a good hunk of rentals for free... I want to say $50 worth.

$199 is a decent price for Ps2

Although, you could buy the PS2 at a gaming store, called Gamestop for $159.00 (saw this advertised). You can also buy them on ebay or half.com as well.

Yes, the Black Friday sales could be good with these things.

I don't "buy" anything at Blockbuster. It's just a thing I have about them. With them renting out tapes, etc. I'm uncomfortable buying "new" thinking in the back of my mind that maybe they repackaged them and are actually selling used items. I'm sure they're honest, but as a teenager I had a friend that worked in a record store. I remember her taking a record that had been played and sealing it in shrink wrap. You would never know that it wasn't brand new when in actuallity it had been used. I usually buy at Target.
