Would you book a package or seperately?

Hey there! I am doing my best to convince DH to make a short trip out to DLR next Dec... Next year is our "non-vacation" year, but 3 days is much more of a getaway rather than a vacation, if you ask me!

Last year was the first time I have ever booked a package for DLR, and I thought it worked out really well. For Dec 2005, I got a quote for just under $1000 for three nights at Carousel Inn, passes and 3 day dining (did that last year and loved it!) I know I can save tons of money by trying out the hotwire thing for the hotel, and buying passes through hotwire, too, but do you all find that booking a package for DLR has its advantages or would you do it all on your own?

Plus, has anyone used hotwire for the hotels around DLR? It looks like "north" is the better side to be on right? (We just used to stay at our cousins house on all our trips there, so last year was my first time staying at a hotel!)

I like to book everything separate on my own. I feel like I have more control over it and I like hunting for good deals. I've never used Hotwire, but have used Expedia or booked directly through the hotel I wanted. I used to book packages, but I feel like I know better now what to look for and that I get better deals on my own.

I book everything on my own too, I am a control freak and like to get a good deal. But it is very time consuming, if your time is valuable to you a package is probably the way to go.

If you do book seperately - My favorite hotel is the HoJo Anaheim on Harbor Blvd. It is a great hotel! Very clean and well maintained. Wonderful pool areas (two pools) you can watch the fireworks from the main pool area. You can request a room in the tower building with a park view. The staff is amazing, extremely friendly & helpful. The hotel grounds a lovely it feels very 'garden' ish to me. Great place to come and relax after a busy day at the parks. It's about a 7 - 10 minute walk from the HoJo to the parks entrance.

Keep checking hotwire! A bunch of us got the 3 star 4 Pts. Sheraton for 12 bucks a night! No joke!

I'd try both -- there are times when a package is soo much less than booking separately because you get deals like 3rd night or 4th night free/ a free day on the pass, free character breakfast ... and when they tie in together you get a great rate - much less than booking room & tickets separately.

Best times for these, of course, is the time between Christmas & spring break Jan-Mar, or summer to Christmas Oct-Nov

I done both also...AAA and Disney Travel has had good packages that included stuff we used. Last time though we used Hotwire since it was so last minute. I usually price things out both ways and go with the best deal but if they are the same price or pretty close I would do the package because I like having everything in a nice neat package. :flower1:
