if you knew a tour group was going to be at a particular park you had planned for the day would you change your plans. the park in mind is HS. i know a leader who says they will be there that day, about 250 teens. but i figure its only my wife and myself. she doesn't do RnR or ST so other than ToT, TSM & GMR everything else is large capacity. figured it wouldn't be too bad. or should i switch my itinerary

do all the tour groups go to the same park? If so Yes i would move to a different park.

Nope my mom has her hart set on pandora so AK it is for us and staying at pop sleep is overrated anyway

No, I wouldn't change my plans. There are lots of variables that may not result in a negative experience for you. But...IF I experienced a negative impact from any individual or group, I would note it to guest services. They can't address what they don't know about. Not to say they would do anything, but dealing with things effectively is better than emotional reactions that lead to a bad experience for anyone.

Nope, I'm a go with the flow type of person on vacation so I'd make my three FPs and just go with it. If that means standing in line, they have great misters at TOT so the line isn't bad at all.

If you can find the exact itinerary for this group, I would avoid the areas they are going to. But NOT the whole Park! And if there are 250 of 'em, they should be pretty easy to spot...

Back when they used to have the huge cheerleading competitions at the Indiana Jones theater instead of the Wide World of Sports, I would always try to avoid Disney-MGM Studios that day. The entire park was non-stop chanting from mid-sized groups of unaccompanied teen cheerleaders who were able to tour the park except when their competition time would be.

As for this instance, are we talking about a group that would all stick together? They would be easy to avoid.

I wouldn't. Our game plan is that when we see large groups, such as tour groups, we just turn and go the other way. We are pretty go with the flow, so unless we have an ADR or FP, we have no problems going the other way on the fly. We have had a lot of success with this method, especially on New Year's Eve!

I would seriously consider it. Enjoyment of the park is so much more than just getting on the rides or seeing the shows you want. Large groups of people impact that enjoyment even if they are not directly doing what you are trying to do.

Is the 250 teens part of a bigger group, like cheerleading or sports where there could actually be tons more? Or is it just those 250 on their own? My friend's kids go to a high school and the senior trip every year is WDW for 4 days. They break into smaller groups of 4 to do rides and meals, so I can't see how it impacts ride lines and such too much.

The size of that tour group is insignificant in size compared to how many people will be at the park. Continue with your plans. Sometimes, when we go and we see a tour group going in line right in front of us, we just wait a a small amount of time before hopping in line, or come back at a later time. One tour group will not interfer with your plans or enjoyment! Have fun!

I wouldn't. We were at WDW last week and there were South American tour groups everywhere...avoiding one group only meant that you would run into 6 more somewhere else.

To further demonstrate the insignificance of 250 people, even on Peter Pan with a low ride capacity of ~750 people per hour, if all 250 got in line immediately ahead of you, you would be delayed about 20 minutes.

But, if those 250 people are loud, chanting, obnoxious brats...then I would get out of line and go do something else.

I wouldn't change my plans. 250 people compared to the rest of the crowd in the park is nothing. And there's no way of knowing that if you avoid HS because of this one tour group, that you might run into 15 other tour groups at Epcot.

There is no way to avoid them at all. If you see them going towards an attraction, get there before them or go to it later.

250 people? No, I would not change my plans. When our high school group goes, they don't go on rides as a group, they split up into 4, or maybe 8 kids in a group and do their own thing.

Back in May 2000, we were still Disney newbies, we ran into the Millenium Dreamers group a couple of times, and Disney closed sections of the parks for them. If I had known about that, I would have changed plans!

Try being here this week with a bazillion Brazilians. 250 people is a drop in the bucket.
