i voted contemp , but after reading others remarks I have to say it would depend on the points and maint. fees. Dh loves the contemp tower, but we both hated teh wing rooms when we stayed there.

I'd take the CR in a heartbeat, but my husband (aka "Dr. Golf") would fight me for Eagle Pines. Which means: Eagle Pines wins. Depending on what it looks like, points per night, fees, etc.

I'd bet that points at our imaginary CR villas will be HIGH, simply because of location. Just a guess.

I don't care for the Contemporary but DH LOVES it. Something about a magical trip when he was a child. :D I voted Contemporary because he would make me. I love my SSR. We would only buy enough for a stay every two or three years. Most of our stays would be at SSR.

My goal now is to pay off SSR early so that if they do have a Contemporary DH doesn't go get a second job to pay for it. :earboy2:

Neither site particularly would move me to buy... but perhaps if enough other folks were totally ga-ga on the CR and its monorail access and location, we would be tempted to snag up some dumped OKW points, LOL!

Seriously...we have decided to keep our pts at BWV, unless we come into some sort of windfall, which might allow us to get enough pts at OKW to secure a GV every other year or some such thing. BWV isn't even our fave resort, but it's where we started out, and we're content to just grow where we're planted in the DVC system for now! SSR is enticing in that it offers 12 more years, but geesh... we'll be pushing nearly 80 when our current DVC-I points expire. (So, sorry kids -- you'll have to fend for yourselves and your own Disney vacations after that!)

The only way I could see buying at CR is if I were able to view it more as a long-term investment.

The cost of points will continue to climb--that's a given. But the point schedule for stays at a CR DVC component are likely to be higher than the current resorts as well. That alone would probably keep us from using the resort often.

I've said many times that I'm not a big fan of the perceived "convenience" aspect of any given resort simply because there are so many destinations at WDW. Being 10 min walking distance from DD (at SSR) is just as valuable to me as being 20 min walk from MGM (at BWV.)

Anyway, if I were in the market for more points that I was relatively certain I would not keep for the entire lifespan of the contract, I might be tempted to choose CR. All things being equal, CR seems likely to have a higher resale value than the likes of SSR or OKW down the road. I might be tempted to purchase there under the assumption that I would recoup more $$$ on the back end.

Of course I'd have to take a look at the maintenance fees, too. If CR started out 15-20% higher than SSR or OKW, it would quickly fall out of the running.

No, I don't think so. There's no real need to buy points at a particular resort in order to stay there since except for a very few busy times of the year, all of the DVC resorts are available. Even if it became hard to book certain resorts in the future, I'd still not be too interested. We're not golfers and the only thing that appeals to us about the CR is the monorail/walking access to MK and even that isn't that big of a deal. But the great thing about DVC is they don't make all of their resorts the same, so everyone should be able to find something they like.

We've got enough points - and love SSR - so I don't see any add-ons in the future. If we did add-on, I'd probably try a smaller resale at VWL or BWV. Of the two poll choices, I'd pick CR, but there are too many possible negatives (high demand, higher # points for rooms, distance of uncovered walk to the main building ;) ) that would probably keep me from buying there.

I thought about tjkraz's "real estate speculation" possibility, but gambling on when DVC will stop exercising ROFR is a bit too risky for me - I'd rather play the "Don't Pass", laying odds, at the craps table ....

Wow, CR appears to be a 10 to 1 winner over EP. Was the Poll more for that info? In other words if you "had" to add on, which would it be? Some on a simialr thread climed CR would not be a big seller-not that this poll proves it will be but it looks pretty positive-at the very least it looks very negative for EP in comparison.

Since I first heard the rumor about the Contemporary, I have wanted to buy there. It would be nice to be at a monorail resort. :Pinkbounc

I have to agree with gopherit's sentiment. We have added on and may again in the future. We are very content with BWV and like the flexibility of having all points housed at the same resort, in order to take advantage of the entire 11-month window will all points. We have and will continue to enjoy the other resorts (trying out SSR next month), but will be content will having our flag stuck firmly in the ground at BWV :)

Can't imagine wanting to add on to any new resorts. Might pick up another OKW contract, but have no interest in owning in the new program.
