Would this work? Bring your own plate

WHY? They will get you a plate and silverware. :rotfl:

Not sure about the original poster, but I take my 2 year old neice out to eat alot and always take her plate and silverware with. The silverware has much wider handles so she can hold it better and her plate is lightweight plastic. Makes less noice when she throws it on the floor.LOL

This will definitely be an interesting trip! :) I have a 1 year old, I planned on bringing his silverware & sippy cup (not because I have to but he can't manage adult sized silverware - he can't even manage kid sized really - starts out & usually ends up eating with his hands but he tries!) He certainly can't drink out of a regular cup unless they want it all over the place!

That's the same reason that I will be taking my 15 month old DD's own bowl, spoon and cup too. She likes to feed herself and will not be able to do that with restaurant plates and silverware.

We just got back last week. We ate dinner at Chef Mickey's, Boma, Crystal Palace and the Princess thing at Epcot. DS2 had his own plate at all the buffets and was not charged (and definitely out ate his sisters). At the princess meal, since it was pre-plated, I thought he had to eat off our plates. However, the waitress brought him his own appetizer plate and told us that he could have whatever he wanted off the children's menu and would not be charged :confused3 so he had a hot dog.
So some of Disney's things may be subjective to the resturaunt and server.

With our 2.5 year old, we still use the child plastic "silverware". I'm always worried about him sticking himself with the "normal" silverware. (And, we went to a few buffets and never had any question if he should be charged -- and he always used the plate from the buffet).

I sure miss having a little one at WDW  . Now that they are 9 and 12, it sure makes dining there little easier :earboy2: ....and they are still sooo cute at WDW...I just love 'em to death :love2:

Whatever you all decide to do with plates - it's your own personal decision - I have no opinion, don't let people here get you down. Oh, but some of my favorite video is where my kids are sitting at the buffet - waiting for and then receiving character attention!!!

On the Hoop-Dee-Doo issue...

We just went there a few weeks ago, using the dining plan. (So this may or may not be accuate...) We had to reserve our meals/table ahead of time, and had to present a "ticket" there. (not sure if this is how it always is, of just when using the plan...My guess is this is how it always is.)

(1) I just don't see how your server would know whether the "child" is 2 or 3 and whether the "child" purchased the meal.

(2) The servers seemed to be part of the show, and not tradiational "servers." I don't think they actually carried additional checks around to bill the guests who had toddlers who ate some of the food on a separate "plate".

(3) If Disney was going to charge for a meal, I don't think they would decide not to charge for it just because someone choose to bring his/her own plate. (If so, I'll be bringin my own from now on!) :flower: ;)

Relax. Go. And, most importantly, have fun. :earsboy:

We did HDDR when DD was under 3. We even had them bring out a hot dog meal for her and we were never charged.
