Would this even be worth it?

Right now my flight home leaves at 1030am. I can change it to 3pm at no additional cost. (there is a 6pm flight but its a ridiculous amount of more money). Its southwest so I do plan to keep checking the prices and times.

With a 3pm flight I would need to be back at the resort by noon at the latest to take ME back to the airport and 1230-1 if I wanted to Uber... that means leaving MK about 11-1130

The only reason I would do this is because I LOVE rope drop early morning in MK and there isn't a chance for it elsewhere during this solo trip. (I'm doing the Christmas after hours, Epcot, and HS with a park hopper to do AK). I would love to just go in, say goodbye to the castle and get a Starbucks.. This will be the Wednesday after thanksgiving so I would bet MK would open at 9... 830 for EMH. So I'm looking at probably 2.. MAYBE 3 hours in MK before having to bail to get my luggage and get to the airport for 3pm flight. Is that worth another day on my ticket? (about $120..)

I just don't know! What would you do? Have you something like this?

I kind of keep waiting to see if Southwest will change the flight on their end and then I can pick a new time for free.....

I would be too keyed up about leaving on time...What time is it? How long will it take me to walk back to the bus stop? How long is that bus to my resort going to take? Will bell services be able to retrieve my bags quickly? Too much worrying to be "in the moment" at MK. We still take later flights, but we take our time packing up in the morning and we go to a late table service breakfast at the hotel.

I enjoy doing things like this and think it's feasible. If it were me, 120 would be a deal-breaker. I would probably do it if the change in tickets was $75 (or less). Of course, we all have different relationships to money; so, others may totally think 120 is worth it.

Idk that I’d pay $120 for 2-3 hours… but if you can get a later flight then yes for sure!

Personally I would not - imho the MK buses are too unpredictable and I would be to worried to enjoy myself!

Your DME pick up time will be 3 hours prior to flight time +/- 15 minutes so you could be scheduled for an 11:45 pick up, add to that the time it takes for bell services to get your bags and you would need to be back to your resort by 11:30.

So with an 8:30 open that would leave you with 2 ish hours - 60 an hour!

If you were doing any other park that isn't at the mercy of Disney transportation, I would say do it. We did something similar our last morning at Animal Kingdom but I wasn't worried because we could easily take a Lyft back to the Swan, which we did.

Are you TSA Pre or Clear? That would play more of a factor as MCO's TSA lines can be rough.

I'd change it to 3p because the 1030a means waking up at 7 to run out to ME by 740a. 3p for us means a late night, sleeping in and packing in the AM to catch ME at 1240.

My ME has been 12-12:15 all year. (Many trips). We do the RD at MK and I head to bus stop 10:30-10:50. Gives me time to get to room and get my stuff and double check things. I usually try to let housekeeping know but most times it’s close to 11a when I get back so not a big deal.

If you miss ME you can just Uber if needed but shouldn’t have to.

I feel like this makes sense if you have an AP or a longer multi day ticket!

Otherwise your still getting at most 2 1/2 hours for the $120 park ticket and if you end up needing to ride share the day just got that much more expensive.

this is deff more my hang up. It’s adding a 3rd day to my ticket so it’s not cheap

My husband flew from MCO end of July and was at the airport by 6am and he couldn’t believe how long the lines were. He arrived 2 hours early so he had time to play with and he needed that time.

I'd do that in a heartbeat....and have. As long as you leave plenty of time to be back to the resort by 11:30-ish, I say treat yourself to some joy not found elsewhere.
