We are going to be in Tallahasse Dec 18 for a wedding, would it be crazy to drive to Disney on the 19th to go to MVMCP? We have to leave on the 20th to come home, but I've always wanted to see MK @ Christmas time, but DH usually can't take off around Christmas time. Am I crazy, or is this doable? Also, if we purchase MVMCP tickets, do we have to buy a park ticket as well?
TIA
Lesley

I don't know how long the drive is, but you would need a hotel room at WDW as the party runs from 7pm until midnight. Yes, you would also need one day park passes in addition to the cost of the party ticket itself...the total of both would run you approx. $120 or so per adult just to go for that event...

While it's nice to see the MK decked out for the holidays, I'm not sure it would be worth your money & time for this particular party. I've been and it was not as fun as the party they do at Halloween by a long shot. Also, you said DH can't travel at Christmastime, but remember...the holiday decorations at the World go up in November. If you could go for Thanksgiving or the week after, you'd still see everything and also get to go to the party! Just a thought...

Good luck & have fun!!

You won't need a 1 day ticket on top of the party ticket.
Your party ticket gets you into the Magic Kingdom starting at 4pm even though the party doesn't officially start until 7pm.

So for the price of the party ticket you could be in the Magic Kingdom from 4pm until midnight.

You would need a hotel for that night so stay at a Disney Value or a cheap hotel nearby and drive home the next day.

I agree with all of this! I don't think it's a crazy idea, especially since you'll have till 4pm to get over there and you don't usually get a chance to go during the holidays. Go for it! I've heard of DISers doing a lot crazier things than this to get their fix! ;)

I lived inTallahassee for years and we did it all the time! Some Saturdays we'd just get up and decide to go and in an hour, we'd be on the road. We almost never stayed overnight, just stayed until the parks closed and went back home. It's less than 4 hours, depending on how motivated you are.

The only downside is that that is the last (or second to the last) nigth of the party and it's on a weekend, so it will be more crowded, but you will still have a blast. We've gone to MVMCP the last 3 years in a row and always enjoy it.

Tallahassee is a cute little town. Have a nice visit.

I say do it! We finally got to go in November last year and went to a MVMCP it was amazing! Make sure you watch the castle lighting ceremony.

Oh, that's right. If you've never seen the castle lit up with the icicle lights, it's worth every penny just for that. It's truly one of the prettiest sights you'll see.

Thanks everyone, I knew true Disney fans would understand, everyone here thinks I am insane!!!!!! Friends here that is, not my daughter and hubby, they are true Disney fans too!!!

Christmas at Disney is THE BEST! I say yes! MVMCP is great, but what about a PH tic and including Disney Studios for the Spectacle of Lights? Couldn;t be in MK during MVMCP in that case.

We live in Georgia and we are about 5.5 hours away. We went to the MNSSHP and it rained, I mean stormed 3/4 of the night. My husband somehow talked very nice to a Cast Member at Customer Service and we we came home from our vacation the next day or so there and was a voicemail at home saying that there was 4 complimentary tickets for the party waiting for us at the Customer Service area if we chose to come back. Needless to say we drove back down the next weekend with the girls as well as my 7.5 month pregnant self! Certain people thought we were nuts too, but so worth it! Not too much we wouldn't do to see the mouse as much as we can!

I went to my first MVMCP last year. I would absolutely make this drive to do this party. I thought it was so magical to see MK all dressed up for Christmas. And it snows on Main Street! I was like a kid! And DO stop to watch the castle lighting ceremony. The Fairy Godmother, Cindy, Mickey & Minnie all help light it up. I was sobbing watching it and knowing my little girl got to see that too!

Have a great time! :wizard:
