Thinking about doing this with 3 kids what are the normal foods served? Is this too scary for a sensitive 5 year old? Also how much of a discount is usually available in the local tourist papers? Thanks

I too am interested in hearing what they serve. I think I read somewhere salad, some type of chicken, maybe ribs, and I do know for a fact all the beer and wine you can drink.

I am not sure about the discounts. We do plan on going to Medieval Times when we are there in Sept. :bounce:

Here's what they were serving last time I was there:

"The meal is simple — soup, a small, whole roasted chicken, a pork rib, a roasted potato — but the herbed chicken is roasted to perfection and the ribs melt off the bone. In addition, you get to eat with your fingers: It's 1093, remember. I can’t explain the psychology, but it helps put you in a suitably barbaric mood to cheer on your knight. (Vegetarians will be accommodated on request.)"

Our boys were 6 & 4 when we took them to Medieval Times. They did not find it scary at all. It is very action packed and exciting but not gory or anything. You can find lots of coupons on the web and in all of those tourist magazines. It is usually about a 10% discount. Try their website at medievaltimes.com.

I've told this story before, but last time we went, DS was very ill, and didn't touch his regular food. Our excellent waiter noticed, and asked if he would like a vegetarian plate, instead. Out came this HUGE plate piled high with different types of cheeses, fruits, veggies, etc. Might be a nice alternative for someone who wants something healthier than the regular menu, too.

Thanks for the suggestion about the veggie plate. Is the regular meal as much as you can eat?

All the wine and beer you want is a little misleading. The waiter is so busy serving all his patrons that he doesn't get back to you much to fill your requests. And I believe the beer and wine were somewhat watered down which is all right because you don't want a bunch of drunken sots all heading out to the parking lots at the same time.
But it is a fun show to watch and the food was acceptable.

Can you request a vegetarian meal before or do you do it when are there?
It sounds like a great idea for my fussy kids, after paying so much for HoopDeeDoo and having them eat only bread this would be great.
