Can anyone help? It seems I can find motels/hotels offsite with one or the other, but I'd really like both. We need the hot tub to rest our tired feet and we like the free continental breakfast to get us out the door quickly in the morning.

A good, warm swimming pool for a 5 year old would be a plus too. We'd also like to be in good proximity to WDW as that is where we'll spend 95% of our time.

I don't mind motels, in fact I almost prefer them to the tower hotel buildings. They just have to be safe and clean. Old is okay as long as they are clean.

I'd like to spend less than $100 a night. And since this will be off season (October) I'd like to get even cheaper than that.

Thanks for any tips!

You might want to try Comfort Suites Main Gate East. You can probably get it for around $79-$89 on www.hotelmartusa.com. There was recently a review up on the sub-forum. My sister and mom stayed there and enjoyed it. The pool was great, it had a hot tub too. They also enjoyed the deluxe continental breakfast each morning - it had make your own waffles, yogurt, danish... I visited them and thought the room was roomy and nice too.

This is where we usually stay and highly recommend it. It's very clean, spacious, and quite afforable. The breakfast is always good and it's less than 5 mins from any of the Disney parks. Here's the link for the hotel's website if you want to see the rooms & pools (hot tub, regular pool, and kiddie pool): http://www.comfortsuitesfl.com/

The only complaint we have (and it's a common one if you read all the reviews) is that the elevators are very slow in the mornings because they only have 2 elevators to service 185 suites and everyone is trying to go to and from breakfast. If you don't mind taking the stairs down a few floors and don't have to go back up to your room after breakfast it becomes a non-issue.

As for price, we're paying $72 per night for our October trip.

Thanks! This is exactly the kind of place I'm looking for.

Any one else have any suggestions?

How about the Marriott Village at Little Lake Bryan? You can use the pool etc at any of the three hotels. Location is close to Downtown Disney. We have stayed at the Courtyard and it was great, however the rate does not include breakfast. I believe the Fairfield and SpringHill suites include continental breakfast.

We are also going in October and thinking about staying at Hawthorn Suites Lake Buena Vista for the 2 nights before our DVC stay. It seems to have everything you are looking for OP, except it looks to be 5 stories tall, not a motel. The free breakfast is more than just a continental, which would be great for us with 3 big eaters in the family. The AAA price is only $80/nt for a 1 bedroom, and most of the tripadvisor reviews are great. It also is completely non-smoking, a plus for us. Anyone have any experience with this hotel?

Marriott Village is great! We stayed at the Fairfield Inn Marriott Village and it was VERY clean, great pool/hottub, and the continental breakfast was very good. Make your own Belgium waffles, pastries, yogurt, bagels, fresh fruit, it had so many fresh items to pick from, we were surprised!
I have booked this through www.libertytravel.com for a past trip, got a very reasonable rate-it worked out to be $60 per night inc. breakfast and this hotel is about 1 mile to Disney, in Lake Buena Vista.
To see the Marriott Village try www.orlando2stay.com

I have stayed at the Hawthorne Suites , LBV and it was .............. fab. Nice breakfast, although did get a bit boring towards end of our two week stay. Clean pool, (we saw it being cleaned every day whilst eating breakfast), hot tub. Housekeeping were great. The hotel is in a very quiet area but quite near to the crossroad shopping centre and a few resturants etc. It is about five/ten mins drive to WDW. Our room was great, with a kitchen area with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave etc. Also had a seperate bedroom. I have heard complaints that some of the rooms are quite tired, but mine was great. I loved it that much that I have booked again this September (although a different Hawthorne Suites).

I cannot recommend Hawthorne Suites highly enough.

Thanks for the review Miss Stitch - just what I was hoping to hear! Sounds like it will suit our needs perfectly for those first 2 days!

Glad it helped you out. We would have stayed there again, but the only problem we found was that because we couldnt drive, we were limited. the hotel has a shuttle but it only goes to Disney. That was fine last time cos we only wanted to do Disney. but this time we would like to check out a few more places. US and Seaworld and spend a little more time on I Drive, without it costing loads in taxi fares. This is why we opted for one of the other Hawthorne suites, on the I Drive trolley route, very close to Seaworld which also has excellent reviews.

When we stayed there in September it was very empty and some days we had to the pool to ourself. Although the pool is small, the hotel is quite small and didnt seem to get too busy whilst we were there and some days we had the pool to ourselves for up to a couple of hours.

I hope you have a great time.

Thanks all! I think I am leaning toward the comfort inn maingate simply based on the refridgerator. I know we'd use that. Hawthorne suites also looks nice, but it's coming up more expensive than comfort inn.

If you are leaning towards comfort suites make sure you get an Orlando Magicard...it's free and the discount you get with it can save another $10/night.

Also, make sure you get Maingate East and not Maingate...they're quite different hotels even though the names are very similar and they're just down the road from one another...it's very easy to confuse the two when booking but I have yet to see a good review of Maingate.

We have stayed at the Amerisuites iat the Calypso Cay Resort n Lake Buena Vista South for the past three years. There are three pools, one is zero entry, great for kids, a slide, playground, BBQ's, daily entertainment, hot tub and a very good continental breakfast with sausage, eggs, waffles and french toast as well as the usual continental items. Two Queen's and a separate sitting area with a micro, fridge and sink. We paid $89 in peak season.
