if your home overlooked a graveyard?

I was watching a TV programme recently where they help families relocate to different areas of the UK and help them find their ideal home. They found this ideal cottage but it's one downfall was the view from the kitchen window - only a few feet away on the other side of a very small stone wall were headstones  the graveyard and of course the church! Of course the presenter made a joke that it would be dead quiet - groan! :p

I wouldn't want a view like that - it would creep me out too much! :scared:

I wouldn't move into a house that overlooked a cemetery.

Why not? They wont be noisy or nosey neighbors!

It would freak me out way too much!! We almost bought a lot with a small graveyard on it when we were looking...luckily we didn't take that one :earseek: :scared:

LOL, true! I certainly can't argue the logic in that.

Not necessarily. Probably not. I guess it would depend on the graveyard.

we use to live in front of a huge cemetry when I was growing up, so it wouldn't bother me.

I don't live near a cemetary, but I work across from one. Our old building was also across from a cemetary. Nice neighbors.

There is a cemetary right behind my backyard. People always used to ask me how it doesn't bother me that I live in front of a cemetary. I never understood that because it's no big deal, its not like they're gonna get up and come haunt you or something. My mom always said they're her favorite neighbors because they're so quiet. My dad also cut an opening in the back of our fence (that we hook up when we're not using it), so we can take our dog for a walk and she has a lot of room to run around.

There would be no way that I would overlook a graveyard - to creepy!!!!!

Im sure at night the bodys come out like they do in "Thriller"

My parent's house had OLD graves in the backyard. It never bothered me.

It's the same with my in-laws. They have the old family cemetery at the top of the hill above their house. No biggie.

When we stood on our lot, before the house was put in, we could not see the cemetary. We did not even realize it was there. When our house was completed we were surprised that we are able to see a cemetary (about a half mile away) out of all our back windows and from our deck. It does not bother us. Now the dope boys and gangbangers in our old neighborhood--they bothered us.

Wouldn't bother me either. In fact I'd probably hang out in the cemetary if it were an old one........talk about tripping through history! Wow!!

Wouldn't bother me at all. I grew up next door to a graveyard and the house on the other side of us was a parsonage. Best neighbors you could ask for!
