My plane comes in at 4pm on a Thursday. Would it be worth it (and would I have the time) to go to a park that evening if the parks are open til 11pm? The ticket price difference isnt much but I dont want to waste money if its not reasonable. We will have an 8 hour flight thats that leaves at 6am That morning. What would you do?

I would just want to eat, relax around the hotel then go to sleep and wake up feeling ready to go! But we stay a long time.
If I had a shorter stay (5 days or less) I would probably hit the park that night!

I'd take it easy that night. It'll be close to 6p by the time you arrive at your resort and I'm sure everyone will be hungry and tired by that time. It takes a little bit of time to get settled and unpacked too. I'd go to bed early rather than push myself in a park.

Honestly I would probably just use the rest of that day to relax and rest from a long day of traveling. Your flight lands at 4pm and IF you are using Magical Express to get to the resort you'll probably get there close to 5:30. This is just my opinion but I would relax and get a good nights sleep to be refreshed for your first full day. When we go, we arrive fairly early and we go to a park and it is just exhausting but we only do it because we have the whole day to do it. Where are you staying?

It really depends on your style, energy and how long you will be there overall. We drive 8 hours, unload our car and then head to the MK even if it's only for a few hours for fireworks and dinner. We love to kick off our trips that way!

After an 8 hour flight, we'd rest up for the next day. If you allow a couple of hours to get to the resort and get checked in, by the time you actually got to a park it would be 6:30, maybe 7? 3-4 hrs for what an additional day costs is what you're most likely looking at. Price wise, it's probably not a bad thing, we just couldn't handle that much in a day. The only way we'd ever consider it is if our trip is very short and every second in the parks counted.

My suggestion is stay at the resort- relaxing dinner, maybe a swim and just enjoy the resort. Early to bed and rested for the next day!

POR is a great resort to hang out at. Lots to do and/or pretty enough to just relax at. OR, you could take the boat the DTD if you don't have that already planned OR you could catch Yeehaw Bob in the lounge

We usually get in at this time from ca & always spend an evening at the parks. Just what we like, but we rest on the plane, or the bus. If I wanted to spend an evening sleeping or by a pool, I'd probably just stay home. Disneyland's only a hour away from home, & we go every couple of weeks, so when in Florida, we like to pack in park time.

I would wait and see how you feel once you've checked into your resort. With a flight leaving at 6 AM you'll be up a lot earlier then that unless you are already near the airport.

We fly in from the West coast so our internal clock says it's 3 hours earlier than DW time so we usually have dinner somewhere in Epcot and head back to our room.

Last summer we drove 15 hours, arriving in Orlando about 9:00 pm. The plan was to get some rest, but once we were there, we couldn't stand it and had to go to MK for a couple of hours.

I'd be more concerned about being tired the next day than spending the extra money for an additional park day. What park do you have planned for the next day? I'd schedule FP+ for 7pm,8pm, & 9pm but being okay with missing all three FP+ IF you don't feel up to it or the flight is more exhausting than you think. You will still be on West coast time so it won't feel that late to you but getting up the next morning would be a concern depending on your family.

At Disneyland we are 7am rope drop to midnight closers. (All our kids are over 11). But we are staying for seven full days besides.

We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside
Awesome! That is one of my favorite resorts, especially to relax since the resort is so peaceful. You can spend time there in the lounge if YeeHaw Bob is going to be on that night. Or take a boat to DTD and just keep it low key. I love the boats to DTD!

When we stay at POR or POFQ we take the boat to DTD on arrival day. It's been our tradition to eat at TRex but there are lots of places to choose from. If you would like to dine at TRex, I suggest calling them direct for a reservation.

I would head to MK and soak it all in. Nothing kicks off a Disney vacation like walking down Main St. toward the castle. What time of year? Will it still be light out? I would head to MK - with FP+ this is a much more attractive option than it used to be. I'd also plan to "sleep in" a bit the first day (again easier to do with FP+). Save RD for your other 6 mornings.

Have done both, although we have passes. The late night hours can be nice. Relaxing is nice too.

This is my sil's third trip to POR specifically and she keeps saying shes always wanted to go to the lounge and never has.

That is not my quote.

Wierd. I was attempting to quote when we were coming from your post (october) and repond to that other post as well. I had posted other stuff as well and its all gone. Of course, I am doing it on my cell phone...so who knows whats happening.

Ugh I hate when I take the time to Type out a response on my phone and then it disappears.
