...With only a week or 2 notice before our arrival? Right now, we have a room only reservation. We don't want to change it to a package w/ ddp right now because there's a good chance we might modify the travel dates a week or 2. I think we are right inside the 45 day balance due deadline ( August 3rd), so I dont wan't to deal with any penalties. I know disney, for some oddball reason, does have room only and package reservations in the same system. Thanks!

Let me try and get this right... you have a room only and you need tickets still and might want to add dining? I believe you can add those when you arrive. As long as you pay for them they will electronically add them to your room key. I'm not 100% sure on this but I do know that you can purchase tickets when you arrive and you have to have tickets to get ddp. Call disney and ask them if you can add it when you arrive. That way you can have the flexibility you need.

I hope it works out for you.

I am thinking if you want to spend more $$ they will let you!!

AFAIK, there is no actual conversion process. going from a room only to a package really means canceling the room only and booking the package (although in the reverse order so you won't lose what you already have). so as you get closer, your chances get slimmer.

even if you actively canceled your room only, it doesn't necessarily mean a package will open up.

You can't add the dining plan on arrival. You have to do it at least 3-ish days in advance (think it's 3, might be 5). You can always buy tickets when you arrive, but if you want the DDP, you must get a package that includes tickets (unless you have an AP).

Just had this same issue when we went to WDW and Universal on the spur of the moment. WDW must have at least 4 days notice in order to add the dining plan to your package. They can do a package on the same day as long as it does not include dining.

On a side note, this is the first trip in 4 years we have done without DDP and we spent a great deal more money this time without it.

Thanks, I think i just confused myself though. I guess I can always book a new ressie with the ddp then cancel the room only ressie. :headache:

Yes, you can definitely do that. You can cancel your room-only reservation up to 6 days before arrival without penalty. There is no penalty for booking a package within 45 days of arrival - you just have to pay the entire balance at time of booking.

It's really pretty easy. Just call CRO and tell them you want to change from a room-only reservation to a package, that you want to add the DDP and tickets. The CM will be able to take care of it for you and it should be a minimum amount of hassle.

Hope this helps!

This thread is best suited to the Disney Resorts & Booking board and I'll be moving it over there.

Just call and tell them you want to convert the room only to a package. It does have to be done outside of 72 hours from arrival though to add the DDP. If youre holding the last room prepare to sit on hold as guest services has to release the room inventory on your room only res to add it to the package.
