That's not entirely true....I'm a native Georgian from Metro Atlanta, we (we as in my people and the people I most associate with) don't wear white after Labor Day or before Easter, even if it is 90 degrees and blazing. Our female relatives drill that in us from about the time we fall in love with our first pair of white patent leather church shoes, lol.But Florida is a different kind of the south, white is appropriate there as long as the weather is appropriate.

According to some historians, the wealthy people often packed up light summer clothes and vacationed away from the drabby city during the summer. Since it was so hot, they could afford lighter (whiter) summer clothes to wear and they would leave the poorer people in the city with their dark clothing. At the end of the summer, the light clothing was put away and they went back to darker clothes.![]()
In the south we don't go by the calendar, we go by the weather.
BTW, I'm a N.E. transplant so it was weird to me at first to see how the southerners dress.![]()
Wow, didn't that 'no white Easter/Labor Day' thing go out long ago??? So all those who follow that rule thinking they are 'fashionable' are really 'outdated'...Hasn't anyone heard of 'winter' white???
Anyway, I'm a native Georgian & wear what colors I want anytime of the year.
It's your birthday-wear what you want. Happy Birthday!![]()
DH is taking me for a four day weekend October 7 - 10th, and Saturday night we are having dinner at the California Grill for my birthday, then on to someplace to watch wishes, then later we are going for drinks someplace. Who would notice if I wore white pants in October? Huge faux pas to wear white after Labor Day at Disney???![]()
