On our first night at Disney we like to kick off our vacation with a fun dinner (not at a park). On our first visit, we did Chef Mickey's. Our next visit we did 1900 Park Fare. Loved both.

DD will be 11 yrs old this trip. I'm thinking Whispering Canyon sounds fun. Do you think an 11 yr old would like it?

My other thought is the Spirit of Aloha. Any thoughts on if an 11 yr old would like that?

(Note: we are passing on HDDR this time. Totally loved it, but want to try something different)

Yeah - if he's into silly stuff I think he'd enjoy it. The waiters will argue with you over your choices make you pass the ketchup from all the tables, etc;

I think OP was referring to a daughter "DD", unless I read that wrong.

I'd think most kids would like WCC, it's not going to be like a character buffet (you mentioned Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare). I'd think it is more along the lines of 50s Prime Time. The waiter or waitress will be the primary source of themed interaction.

My DD was 11 when we went to both Whispering Canyon and the Luau 2 years ago. She's an only child (a little reserved) and loved helping deliver the ketchup but didn't participate in some of the things the younger kids did. She loved the food. For the luau, she thought that was awesome: food, show, everything.

Well? My dear Wife and I are 65..... and we LOVE WC :). If you can? Ask for Hickory, MT, Bridget. Both YOU and the 11 year old will love your stay...

After 11 years, two trips per year to WDW, eight days each trip, every breakfast at WC? We've gone to WC 176 times :). And loved every visit :).

I think WCC would be great for an 11 year old. The luau is more like a dinner show with music and dancing, etc. Of the two, WCC would probably be best, but either are very good and you'll like the food.

Most likely. Unless she's already into the "I'm embarrassed by looking silly" phase that pre-teens tend to enter.
